Beer Runs

in #beer8 years ago

Though I would post about beer but in a different vein. I know a lot of you have great beers stores handy and can just run on down and grab some beer for the week or weekends. Around here one has to plan a bit better especially when your goal, as mine is beer sampling rather than buying in quantity, so I will stock up on beers when I can. I like to use the American term of Beer Run. I’m going to show you all my beer run finds for the past month and a half. A number of these I’ve reviewed on here.

This was a group of beers I picked up at my local beer and wine store, Vintage Sellers. They were my go to store for past couple of years but they are slow to get new beers or much variety and I’m finding it hard to get new beers to try. This batch included the bourbon barrel aged Oatmeal stout from Highlander Brewing, a German Oktoberfest, a Mexican Beer from Modelo, a winter ale from Sam Adams, a sour from Sockeye Brewing, a white Thai IPA from Upslope and Oskar Blues attempt at a Mexican Lager.

This group included 5 beers I ordered from past selections of the beer of the month club: Spider Bite Brewing’s Boris the Spider Stout, Sky High Rye Pale Ale, Penalty Bock, Cali-Coast kolsch and Bear Naked Amber.

A week later my February BOMC shipment arrived consisting of Hometown Brew Lager, Copperhead pale ale, Abbey Triple and an Oatmeal Stout.

A mother lode haul from two friends/family, the best kind of beer hauls. My daughter had picked up a couple of beers for me in Butte while my friend Cody was traveling through Missoula so I made a list for him to stop at Big Heads Bottle Shop. You can see the delicious beers in the picture, consisting mainly of stouts and porters with a few light weights in there also. I’ve drank about half of this batch so be on the lookout for the rest to be reviewed.

One of our local grocery stores recently started offering a selection of beers to fill a six pack, and while the selection was a bit light I was able to piece together 6 different brews I’d not tried even if that included a cider, 2 pale ales, a Belgian blonde, a golden ale and an amber, all light colored beers, still new beers for my Untappd count!

Toppers Wine Cellar in Helena has been a pretty good source in the past when I’ve been able to stop but this trip I was only able to find 5 beers to caught my eye. These included two porters from the old country, a Scottish Ale from a Montana brewery, a winter warmer and an oak aged coffee stout.

As long as I was back in Missoula why not hit up Big Heads Bottle Shop to see if they had anything new, and I did find 6 new beers, a good bit of a mixture of types including an IPA!!!!

Third and final stop of the day in Missoula, the Pattee Creek Market who has an awesome beer selection but not as many singles for purchase but I scored 3 -22 oz beers all of the stout variety!!

And finally, this morning I ran to the nearby Fresh Market grocery to pick up a few things and whilst browsing the beer aisle was impressed by their selection and even more so when I spotted the build a 6 Pack end cap, so with a little work I put together 6 beers if not tried before, again with one exception of a cream stout, all light weight beers but still a victory in my eyes!!!

So now I’m stocked with beers for the next 3-4 weeks. I’m lucky that I have a full sized frig in my garage for stocking extra beers in my quest to maximize my Untappd sampling numbers. Hope you enjoyed this long, almost showing off, post but it’s nice to vary the post content but still keep it Beer! Cheers folks!!

This is not a beer run...it's a beer haul! Way to go! Looks like my fridge! You got quite a nice variety of style, I love how much you're mixing it up! I've tried some of these, and I can say you are in for quite a week!

Yes I’ve been known to over do it, really tied to my Untappd habit, never drink the same beer twice!!😀

Let's trade Untappeds! Mine is bsusra84
