ohh! Venezuelan empanadas are made from corn flour dough precooked with water, salt, a little sugar; stuffed with ingredients such as: shredded white cheese, black beans, ground meat or ground beef, shredded chicken, or fish; which is finally fried in oil. They have the shape similar to that dish mentioned but here they are not puff pastry but precooked cornmeal and are fried :)
Yes, the same idea of having the ingredients wrapped and fried.
