Of course it is the time of year for mulch! We needed some and Menards had it for 2 bucks a bag!!!
Ill take 30 of those!
Ben really wants a magnolia but we dont have a perfect spot for one. Yet they sure are pretty!
On the way home, we saw some guys blowing up their hot air balloons!
I got some great video to get up! The guy was right where you could talk to him. We asked where he was going to land and he replied, "I dont know!" LOL!!
It was such a fun time watching them climb up, up and away!

How exciting to get up close and personal with the balloons! I love when you catch them launching in a field like that and have them all to yourselves. Good thing we all carry a camera with us all the time.

Hot air balloons look awesome, and your photographs of them are stunning - amazing colours and such a real feel 3D shape.
BUT I would never go in one, or near one to be honest. You can control up, down sort of but mostly they seem to rely on luck more then judgement that they land rather then crash.
Anyway, I hope you had good fun distributing all that mulch. Coffee chaff is a byproduct of roasting it and free - I collect loads of it and distribute that on my garden.

I don't think I have ever seen a magnolia bloom or tree. They probably don't grow in Colorado. I'll have to check.
We have a hot air balloon festival here over labor day weekend. I haven't been in 30 years but will go this year because my sisters are coming and we will take lots of photos for you.
I know there are loads of magnolias in the south but they do fine here in Michigan. I dont think your weather is all that much worse than here is it?
We must have them here, I don't know my flowers, I just know that I like them.

It depends on which kind. They can get huge! Or they have pretty little specimen trees. That is what they mostly have in my neighborhood. Still. A yard with some room.

They have huge ones out at UBC botanical gardens. Then there are some curb side ones. They are bit more scraggly looking. I was wondering if they needed a particular kind of soil and exposure.
Not really. They like sun, as they tend to bloom more, but they seem to do fone where they are planted here.
Oh, you are such a gardener!! I stick it in and if it starts to look unhappy, I move it. That's my gauge.

Great photos.. the magnolias I grew up with in Texas were always white. Mom would put one to float in a bowl of water. We could not touch it because the white would become discolored.
A balloon fest would be fun. :)
