Whether you are coming to north Wales for a weekend or your summer trip, a visit to one of our exquisite blue flag beaches, has to be on the top of your agenda. North Wales is home to so many beaches facing all compass directions, so no matter what the weather or wind direction you can always find a sheltered place to roll out your picnic blanket. With campsites galore along our wonderful coast, you can literally be a stones throw away from a morning dip or paddle. See out “whats on places to stay” tab to check out accommodation. Whether its a paddle, sand castle building or just to fly a kite, our safe beaches will provide so much fun and entertainment for the family. There are plenty of beach activities to partake in here all summer long such as rock pooling here along our marine rich coastline, swimming, body boarding, beach games, sand castle building, surfing, crabbing and netting (you are in the finest territory for marine life in the country!) Pack a crabbing line, net and a bucket to explore the local pools at low water. We hope you find our little guide helpful! have fun..

Newborough

This is a long and very sandy beach that seems to go on forever. It also boasts of outstanding car parking facilities, toilets and a new complete board walk systems that was introduced a couple of years back.

Rhosneigr

There are two very interesting sandy beaches here at Rhosneigr. The beaches are perfect for water sports and other activities. You can bring your dogs to the beach and a car park is also available though in the busy period parking space will be at a premium.

Aberfraw

This is where the Sahara of Anglesey meets the sea. It is perfect for surfing and fishing. It is also kids-friendly though you will need to supervise young children when they are playing close to the sand dunes. Dogs are also allowed at this beach.

Benllech

This is one of the more popular beaches during the summer season. It is perfect for a family outing and sports lovers will find this beach to be truly interesting. The beach is also dog-friendly.

Lligwy

Lligwy beach lies bang next to Moelfre, a very popular village. The beach boasts of soft white colored sands and is perfect for water sports and other games. It is possible to access to one beach by car but not the photograph below, this is about 15-20 minutes walk from light beach itself, but well worth the walk!. It is also dog-friendly but you must keep your dogs under tight control.

Porth Dinallaen

Porth Dinallaen is special even though it is not a big beach. However, it is pretty and boasts of a pub that is out of reach of motor transport. Porthdinllaen holds its name very high in the beach world of north Wales and is very well renowned for Ty Coach Inn the famous beach side watering hole.

Abersoch

This is a beach that lies on the south coast of the Llyn Peninsula. The good news is that it faces east and hence you will not be pummeled by blustery winds. It is popular because it is ideal for watersports. Situated on the mouth of the Mawddach estuary close to Snowdonia National Park it is special because it has mountains and sand as well as sea. Abersoch is kids-friendly and is perfect for a holiday.

Cymyran

Cymuran beach lies on the western side of a 2-mile long sandy beach that extends from Rhosneigr village. Dogs are allowed and this beach is also perfect for those who want to fish, kite surf or wind surf.

Penmaenmawr

This beach is perfect for a family outing. It boasts of a paddling pool for kids and there is also a nice skate park for children. Adults can enjoy windsurfing and canoeing as well as sailing. Cafes and shops as well as amusement parks are all situated close by. Dogs are allowed but you can only bring them to the beach after obtaining permission. Beach huts are available and these can be hired on demand.

Red wharf bay

Red wharf bay is also known as Traeth Coch. This beach is not only very beautiful but also very wide and it has plenty of things for you to discover. Rock pools, and a wonderful bay that lies between Pentraeth and Benllech make this beach truly interesting. It is also dog-friendly and there is a café nearby. Toilet facilities are also available.

Dinas Dinlle

This beach offers the most spectacular views and it is easy to access. Dinas Dinlle is ideal for a long walk. Water sport lovers love this beach, which is also dog-friendly though restrictions may be applied during the busy summer months. Car park is available as too shops that lie not far from the beach.

Shell Island

This is a beach is perfect for frolicking because of the many seashells that wash up on shore. Shell Island also has a large 300-acre camping land close by. This camping site is the largest camping site in all of the UK. There is a total of 3 beaches with the main one running for about 6 miles.

Barmouth

This is one of the more popular beaches in North Wales. Boating is a popular activity here as too swimming. Dogs are allowed but with restrictions. Drinking water and toilets are also available.

Cemaes Bay

This is the perfect beach to bring your little children to. There are rock pools as well as a promenade here. In fact, Cemaes Bay has a couple of beaches here called Traeth Mawr and Traeth Bach. The beaches are sandy as well as rocky. Dogs can only be brought to certain parts of the beach. Café/restaurant and toilets are available as too a pub that lies not far from the bay.

Warm jumper incase the wind gets up it generally does at some point!
Binoculars for bird spotting
