Grab Some Basic Attention Token (BAT) Now!
Some of you may not be aware of the the ICO a few days ago for a new cryptocurrency called BAT, which stands for Basic Attention Token. There are so many options for alt coins these days, it makes it very difficult to decide which have value and which are junk. I believe BAT is going to be huge, and I will outline a few of my reasons to buy now. I am not a financial counselor or investment advisor, so don't misconstrue this as investment advice, this is simply my opinion and why I decided to invest in BAT.
1. BAT's ICO raised 35 million dollars in 30 seconds! Wrap your brain around that one for a moment! For every second you ponder this, another million was generated in the offering.
2. One of the developers, Brendan Eich, is the creator of Javascript and co-founded both Firefox and Mozilla. That is some kinda resume, I think he may know a thing or two about creating a successful platform. He also has a star studded team of successful programmers and business minded individuals assisting in his endeavor.
3. With his newest internet browser creation, Brave, advertisers will utilize BAT to pay users for viewing their content. BAT will be the virtual currency that powers a new blockchain-based digital advertising platform, in the ERC20 (Ethereum token) standard, and BAT will also be available on other browsers. This has the potential to change the way advertising works and get the revenue in the hands of those creating content and using the platform, not the soul crushing monsters like FB or web giant Google.
4. Brave looks to limit the tracking and pop ups from web browsing, which will speed up page loading and keep more of your viewing data private. You can download the new browser at https://www.brave.com/
5. BAT is not on any of the major exchanges right now except for Bittrex. However, BAT's trading volume is in the top 12 of all crypto currencies after only 5 days! Do you think there might be some interest from investors here? As of this writing on June 6th, it is currently trading at around $0.26, just think what will happen to the price when this is made available on all the exchanges...

I'm curious, did you actually make it into the ICO? I was initially planning to try, but got put off from it at the last minute by the negativity surrounding the team's decision to set the ETH / BAT price peg at a low ETH price, thus artificially inflating the target funding cap.
I'm kicking myself for missing out, but I think the current high value is driven mainly by pent up demand from all the people who missed the ICO. Kind of similar to what happened initially with FirstBlood. So I'm holding off for now, will wait to see if there's a dip down to the ICO price or below.
Also I don't think fundamentals for this project are very good. It may be a nice short term speculative opportunity, but I wouldn't want to hold this long term. The most immediate question in my mind is "how do you get people to switch to using the Brave browser?" It's not easy to overcome the likes of Chrome and Firefox, and I'm not sure ad blocking + opt in paid incentives to view ads will be enough to give this a worthwhile user base. Seems like a solution in search of a problem to me.
No I did not make it into the ICO, just bought a little on the Bittrex exchange. The price has dipped since the ICO so your intuition looks to be spot on. I agree with the whole browser switching problem, it remains to be seen if this team can persuade enough people to make the jump, although they do claim that BAT will be available over multiple platforms. Only time will tell, but exciting days are ahead in the crypto world!
