Another Musk assertion on Universal Basic Income

Elon Musk has his fans. And he has his detractors.

Regardless of where anyone stands with him, it is obvious he is doing things that are altering the course of society.

Through Tesla, Musk seeks to be one of the great disruptions in many different industries. His success might start a larger wave of technological unemployment.

Musk is seeking to become a jobs destroyer. Tesla's automobile production line was 90% robotic, a level that fell back a bit due to recent issues. His main goal with that division of the company is to create fully autonomous vehicles. That will eliminate the need for most transportation jobs.

He approaches questions about Universal Basic Income in an interesting way. When asked about it, he does not debate the issue. It is not a topic for discussion with him. He simply states his view in a matter of fact way.

This is what he said in November 2016 when asked about it.

"There is a pretty good chance we end up with a universal basic income, or something like that, due to automation," Musk told CNBC. "Yeah, I am not sure what else one would do. I think that is what would happen."

The Manna Project does not take a stance on the politics of any individual or how to implement UBI using government funds. We bring this point up to illustrate how many of those who are creating technologies that will ultimately destroy jobs view UBI (or something similar) as the solution. Musk holds the opinion that there is going to be little choice.

Considering the fact that he seeks to fully automate the production in his plants with robotics, we find it extremely ironic that he used the word "if" when referring to robots taking jobs.

If he succeeds in what he is attempting, there will be no "if" in the equation.

UBI should have begun to have been implemented 25 years ago. The boom in computers and communication technologies wiped out 1000s of jobs in the 90s. Only a booming population and strong western economies have stopped it being a serious requirement, however, we are now seeing the beginnings of automation on an unprecedented level which is why I believe UBIs will be a necessity in the west over the coming 20 years. However, they have been, are and will be even more so desperately needed in less properous nations now.
I dont think Musk is interested tbh, he just loves innovating and inventing leaving others to sort out the effects!

Musk is good but only to his own side and what he know how to do,. He should face what he know how to, his "if" I don't think business is his way
