Land Pirate Banana Bread!!

in #baking5 years ago (edited)

It was a sunny day today and I decided quite late in the day to go check out some farmer markets around Krakow.
I was in two minds though whether to go because I went to the Breakfast buffet Again and didn't really feel like going to go and get food. I completed another 72 hour fasting a couple of days back and since then have got some really nice hash so the urge not really there to eat much plus smoking this banging critical hash - I was quite happy to chill out on the sofa.

Looks delicious right?! We shall get to that part soon!

Yesterday I went and got a month ticket at the sauna down the road to start doing this again and its a boxing gym and sparring place and the sauna is tiny, but its close to the appartment and its working, unlike the last one I went to! As spring is showing its face and it was quite warm today, some would say I missed the markets but it was all in good timing. I arrived just as they had closed, and had the perfect time to walk around and look in the trash. So boring of me not to have taken the camera with but I just got back now and took a picture of what i found.

As you might know, I like to freegan it 90+% of the time for clothes and food so check out the loot!

Most times you find something that is just a bit bad on the end like this Eggplant below, if I had a knife on me I could have just cut it off before taking it home..

I have just cut the slice of the end of the bread and its so delicious!

Banana Bread!

No added sugars, just bananas, flour and egg, with baking soda and salt. Since hanging out with @byegoogle (Maybe they will become a new Steemian and use the account!) the first time I found a lot of very soft banana's, they suggested that we should make banana bread!

That evening we devoured the whole loaf, which to be fair was a lot of banana bread!

Instructions for making Landpirate Banana Bread:

  • Go to the dumpster behind or to the side of a fruit shop, or a supermarket after closing time and take as many bananas as you can juggle. Peel and put in a big bowl (or cooking pot) ready to be mashed.

DSC03347.JPG
  • Melt some butter, the more the better really and add to the banana's saving some to wipe around the inside of the baking tin - and wash your hands first :P - Oh and add one whole egg (yes a whole one!!)

DSC03345.JPG

  • Add flour and mix, don't ask how much - just enough so that it becomes a thick goo.

DSC03350.JPG

  • Pour it into the baking form.

DSC03352.JPG

  • Put it in a preheated oven at 175c and leave it for 50 mins and check it by sticking a knife into it and seeing if anything comes out stuck on the blade.
