Trailing Edge Flaps Up Landing

Condition: The trailing edge flaps are less than 1.

Objective: To configure for a landing with trailing edge flaps less than 1.

1. Choose one:
   Trailing edge flap asymmetry exists:
   Go to step 2
   Trailingedge flap asymmetry does not exist:
   Do this checklist only when directed by the Trailing Edge Flap Disagree checklist.
   Go to step 4

2. ALTERNATE FLAPS master switch ARM (230K maximum)
   Note: This procedure extends the leading edge devices only.

3. ALTERNATE FLAPS position switch Momentary DOWN
   Verify that the LE DEvices annunciator indicates FULL EXT for all leading edge slats and flaps.
   Note: The LE FLAPS TRANSIT light can stay illuminated after the LE devices are fully extended.

4. Choose one:
   LE DEVICES annunciator shows FULL EXT:
   Go to step 5
   LE DEVICES annunciator does not sow FULL EXT:
   Go to the All Flaps Up Landing checklist

5. Consider burning off fuel to reduce touchdown speed.

6. Set VREF 40 + 40 knots.

7. Check the Non-Normal Configuration Landing Distance tables in the Performance Inflight-QRH chapter or other approved source.

8. Maintain flaps up maneuvering speed until on final.

9. Limit bank angle to 15degrees when airspeed is less than the flaps up maneuvering speed.

If the LE devices are not in FULL Extend after applying the alternate flaps extension procedure, accomplish the NNC

Approach:
Review the approach chart : Pblished procedure turns and radarvectors that are executed at a speed below flaps up maneuvering speed, require a wider turn radius due to the 15 degrees bank angle limit!
On final, a high nose-up attitude will give an impression of being high on profile.

Landing:
Burn-off fuel to practical minimum in order to reduce landing weight.
Choose RWY : - Weather forecast at ETA (= after fuel burn-off) and landing minima CAT I
- Refer to PI (Advisory Info - Non-Normal Configuration Landing Distance)
- Avoid wet runway or crosswind
- Verify obstacles for straight ahead go-around
No or only very little flare is required, make a positive landing, do not float. Maintain forward column pressure after touchdown!
The use of autobrakes is recommended, consistent with available runway length. Use maximum reverse thrust.
High speed tires maximum 225 mph / 196 kts ground speed. Verify tire condition with the pilot that performed the exterior inspection.

Go-Around: go-around with Flaps UP
Limit bank angle to 15 degrees when speed is below Flas UP-speed.

Diversion:
With hydraulic system B pressure available, however, the LE devices can be retracted by positioning the Alternate Flaps Master Switch back to OFF.
With the LE devices in full extend, limit airspeed to 230 kts (=ALT FLAP EXTEND placard speed) and do not climb above 20,000ft.
Add a 10% penalty to the alternate fuel for the LED in full extend. The FMC does not take this penalty into account!

ATC:
Request : - Weather forecast at ETA (=after fuel burn-off)
- Straight ahead go-around due to limited bank
- Fire brigade to inspect landing gear at roll-out
Report : - Holding time required o burn-offfuel and prepare for approach
- Souls on board
- Fuel upon landing
- Any or no dangerous goods on board

Cabin Crew : SOP - Brief the CCM using company guidelines and call-outs

Passengers : SOP - Reassure passengers in line with company guidelines
Example: “Technical problem, airplane under control. Remain in holding for x time to reduce fuel.
Follow Cabin Crew instructions.”
