Commercialized DIY Paramotor

Before I update you all with the final version on the home-made GX200 powered paramotor (Eggmotor) unit, I will drop a massive hint with this intermediate post. As I stated in a previous post, Paul Bailey of Bailey Aviation took an interest in the Egg development and took it upon himself to create a series of high quality engineered kits in order for budding builders to manufacture their own Eggmotors. Only a small batch was fabricated and it was on a first come first served basis primarily to (but not exclusively) the Yahoo Eggmotor forum members. Of course, Paul had first developed and built a prototype 'Bailey-Egg' hybrid in order to evaluate the reliability and performance of the kits prior to offering them for sale. Paul's test flight video below shows the viability of such a machine.

The substantial difference from the Bailey-Egg hybrid compared to the [version that I was currently in possession of](https://steemit.com/life/@eggmeister/penultimate-gx200-powered-flying-machine-eggmotor) was that it spun a much larger and more efficient propeller through a reduction belt drive system. This extra efficiency of turning a larger propeller at a slower speed not only reduced noise but added an extra 10kg of thrust for the same given engine output of around 12 horse-power.

Paul Bailey was very kind to give me one of his reduction drive kits for free as a sort of thank you.

Paul soon ran out of the reduction kits as they were the most prized item to have, although some other kits are still available.

I hope that has fully highlighted (and completely removed the mystery) of what was to follow in the dark recesses of Egg HQ during 2011. It's no surprise that my efforts and aesthetics won't be on par with Bailey Aviation's prototype but hopefully it'll fly :)
