Autonomous cars start rolling on the streets of Japan in the beginning of next year (2019)

in #autonomous6 years ago

I've heard here and there about autonomous cars, but didn't take it serious until some facts happened while driving on the streets from England and Romania. So, in England on the highway there is big risk of driving considering the speeds from there and the high number of cars, while the driver doesn't get any joy from this experience as it just moves with the crowd. In Romania, the roads are poorly done and the drivers are tired and driving old cars. In one day, while a driver was getting out of the road, another didn't pay attention and bump it. I was just 20 meters away from this and I was sorry about this situation. After 20 minutes while I was driving on my band another driver just pulled the right steering wheel without any sign and was short to accident me...Why do we need all this stress, why do we need to be involved or see such unhappy moments...You are right, from that moment I changed my thinking and I understood what really the autonomous cars bring to the table and I totally support them.

There have been many discussions in the online environment on autonomous cars, but we can only really talk about such vehicles from now on. China's Baidu online giant announced at the Baidu conference that it has entered into a partnership with the Japanese SoftBank giant to launch the first autonomous buses. The order has already been made for 10 such units, which will be delivered in 2019.

Apolong buses have been unveiled for some time, but for the first time they will be on the streets in Japan from next year. They use Baidu Apollo's autonomous driving system, which is capable of level 4 autonomy. This means that the system drives without the help of a driver, but there are some conditions that need to be met.

While buses will carry human passengers, they are small in size and can only be found in tourist areas, airports, and other "controlled" areas, where fewer hazards can occur. Baidu is only the manufacturer, the autonomous bus operator being SB Drive, a subsidiary of SoftBank.

Apolong buses are developed at King Long's factory in Xiamen City and will be exported to Japan. These will be the first "export" vehicles produced by the Chinese. After the ten units in Japan, Baidu prepares a local launch in Beijing, Shenzen, Pingtan and Wuhan, all centers around technology development. All good news for this industry and also for the blockchain where there are multiple opportunities to enter this market.

CUBE (AUTO) is a cryptocurrency that evolves around offering to connected or autonomous vehicles the required security and information exchange platform built on top of blockchain technology. It is one crypto that I am following and hopefully I will be soon steping in to add it to my portfolio, so you may give it a try also if you consider it worthy - https://cubeint.io/

Awesome, thanks for sharing this, only saw your post today, and refreshing to see there is more going on on the streets than Google/waymo...
