The Role of the Food Industry in Creating Food Addiction l Doctor's Farmacy with Dr. Mark Hyman EP1

“It is, perhaps, not unreasonable to think of the grocery store as a battlefield, dotted with landmines itching to go off. And if you accept this, then it becomes all the more apparent why the food industry is so reliant on salt, sugar, and fat. They are cheap. They are interchangeable. They are huge, powerful forces of nature in unnatural food. And yet, for us, knowing all this can be empowering.” - Michael Moss, from his book "Salt, Sugar, Fat".

To me, this quote from the first guest on my podcast, Michael Moss, captures the essence of our conversation and episode 1 of The Doctor’s Farmacy. It was an honor and pleasure to have Michael as my first guest. His book, the New York Times best-seller, Salt Sugar Fat: How the Food Giants Hooked Us, changed my trajectory of my own work. It woke me up to the shady practices of the food industry. Our conversation was fascinating and enlightening. I hope you enjoy it.
