A little over six weeks ago, I launched a steemit based contest called, The Altcoin Trading Championship.
The aim of the contest was to help myself and anyone else who wanted to join in gain some experience of trading on the crypto markets without having to risk their own money or suffer any personal financial loss.
For each round, I provided the contestants with one fictional Bitcoin with which to invest and also a screenshot of the top 20 volume coins on Bittrex at the start of each round for them to choose from. Whoever made the best return on their investments over the period of each 72 hour round, would be declared the winner of that round and receive the round prize, as well as points towards the Championship and Grand Prize.
As a Grand Prize, I personally guaranteed 100 SBD, which has since been added to by the very generous and hilarious @meesterboom who liked the idea of the contest so much that he decided to donate 20 SBD to the prize pool, which I decided to add to the Grand Prize, bringing it to a total of 120 SBD.
After 12 grueling rounds with lots of profits, as well as a few losses, it's now time to reveal our Altcoin Trading Champion and winner of the 120 SBD Grand Prize.
As you can see from the final Championship Table, the winner and steemit's first Altcoin Trading Champion is .....
A huge congratulations to you @precise. You did a fantastic job over the course of the Championship with four wins out of twelve, including three in a row. :) This post will constitute the last #atc post for which the rewards will go towards the Grand Prize. At the moment that remains at 120 SBD but could rise if the rewards from the remaining posts do. Regardless, when the reward period for this post ends in seven days time, I will transfer your prize to your wallet. After this, I will make one more atc post to tie up loose ends, speak about the possibility of a second season and I will also include screenshots as proof of payment of all prizes throughout the course of the contest. Any rewards from this post will be retained by myself.

I think the next time we can make the contest a little more interesting with a daily part and an overall part. Each round we would get say 0.1BTC to play with, but whatever remains will be carried forward to the next round and 0.1BTC of the next round will be added. We can have winners of individual rounds based on the 0.1BTC and winners of overall(including the carry over).
Apart from that we can use a screenshot of the bittrex page to see the time at which they choose to sell(instead of selling at the max price) within the deadline.
A great idea @omstavan and something I have been considering. I had wanted to do something similar with the first season whereby there are short, medium and long term strategies, i.e day trading and long terms investment holdings but being the first season I decided to keep it as simple as possible for newcomers, including myself. :)
I'll definitely take your suggestions on board my friend. Thanks a lot and also for taking part. I hadn't envisaged the value of SBD going up so much and if I had known this, I probably would have split the pot between the first three places. I thought being around the dollar mark my initial Grand Prize would have been around $100. It may still be by the time its paid out but lets hope not. :(

The idea of long term investment holding seems great! Make sure there is a season two!
I was going about reading, when i discovered that a user named grumpycat is hoarding SBD in the name of SBD correction. I think he intends to dump it in the market at a cheap price to bring SBD back to 1$!
I made a quick post today about a post from 10 days ago by @checkthisout and which was voted on by grumpcat. The post received 1500 SBD and 5000 steem for comments by the author which was paid out three days ago. I'm not sure if that would be enough to deflate the price but there could be other similar posts out there to add to this number.
