The Sun in Astrology -- the central symbol of you!
The Sun in your horoscope symbolizes your ego ... your basic self-identity. It gives information about how you define and express yourself. It describes your essential character traits and your self-image. It will show the kind of support you have for your self-esteem ... and things which could hinder that -- especially issues and conflicts that exist in you.
The Sun tells how you prefer to reveal yourself to the world. It shows the substance and heart of your spiritual being. It characterizes the state of your self-confidence and the sorts of things that help you feel worthwhile. It shows how you are designed to specialize with your various qualities, talents and interests.
It aims to help you feel self-assured, confident of your place and importance, valued and proud of yourself. It defines you as an expression of Source, and marks you as individual and unique.
Sun energy is considered masculine no matter what sign it's in. It helps show how you express the masculine side of your nature. (The Sun is very influential in this, but Mars has a hand in it, too.) Positively, your Sun energy is confident, creative, significant and self-directed. Negatively, it is self-absorbed, insecure, conceited and arrogant. As with Mars, these are virtues and character problems commonly associated with men.
Your Sun energy describes your vitality and conscious will. You are very aware that outside-and-in it describes who you are, your ambitions and personal / spiritual agenda and how you act and express yourself as a person with a place in the world.
Other factors in your chart and in life ... and your other inner selves will shade and influence the expression of this energy, but through it all, your Sun energy will demonstrate your reality, your existence, your essential character, your values and your power to have an impact on the world. Through your Sun's assets, you give direction to your life.
Your Sun energy is your cosmically-backed declaration of "This is who I am and what I am able to create." It shows both your outstanding character traits and your central life-focus.
Sun energy establishes a beach-head, a home base of power and influence from which you can operate. It puts your personality and charisma on display. It is the side of you other people get to know "once they get to know you" ... and get past the facade of your Ascendant. It isn't quite the person you reveal to intimate friends and family members. That's reserved for Moon energy. But it is an interim step, and its information is valid.
Sun energy is also connected to willpower, ambition, your life purpose and your creativity. Thus the Sun's placement by house and sign talks about how you see yourself, your artistic and creative potential, the things you find important, what you have as your reason for being and the kind of respect and status you want.
The Sun's position by sign and house reveals where you focus your main interests, how you want to shine and the traits you use to promote yourself. It shows how you offer your contributions to the world ... and the lessons your soul is working to master -- or refine -- in this life. Clearly this covers a lot of bases, but it's not all there is to you.

Yes. Upvoted and Resteemed. This really resonated well with me. Your writing is clear, well-organized, and provides just enough practical information to be comfortably digested and integrated. I am a HUGE fan of the sun, and as a "sound and image" focused type, I have found great benefit meditating on this audio/video :
How interesting. Kind of a cross between air brakes on the interstate ... and your neighbor kid learning to play the tuba on a Saturday morning when you want to sleep in. (grin.) Also reminds me of the white noise some meditation tapes use. (Scared the crap out of my husband when I started playing it. He thought it was my computer breaking down!)

From any number of "Astrologers" I see stuff like "Such-and-such asteroid is quin-something to fragile Venus in Gemini, so beware." Do you understand that, because I sure don't. Am I supposed to think it's real astrology because it's incomprehensible?
