There are four million people in Assam's list of NRC
List of Assamese National Citizen Registration (NRC) has been published on Monday. 3 million 29 million people living in Assam have applied for their name in the NRC list. The number of people in the list has been estimated to be 2.8 million. In other words, 40 to 41 lakh people living in Assam could not name the list as 'Indian'. This information was given in a report by the Times of India.
NRC co-ordinator of the final draft, however, said, "This list is just draft, this is not the final one. Those who did not get the list, can apply or object.
Claims and objections to the names will start from August 30 and will continue till 28 September.
Indian registrar general Shailesh said, "There is enough scope for objection." There is nothing to fear of the real Indian citizens. '
In the Times of India report, Assam is registering its citizens as the only state in India. The names of citizens are being listed on the basis of such allegations that illegal immigrant votes play a big role in the state.
Residents of the NRC have been concerned about the release of the list for quite some time. Additional warnings have been issued in the whole state. Section 144 has been issued in 6 districts.
