AskSteemit: Who's buying Steem at these prices?

in #asksteemit5 years ago

Hey everyone!

Who would've thought Black Friday would bring some great deals for crypto's as well, eh?
I know that things may look dark right now and you've probably heard it from many who keep looking at the all time highs and comparing it to the prices now. It would've been nice if Steem and many other currencies would've moved away from the Bitcoin pull at this point but I guess it's just too early for that still.

What can I say else than Bitcoin having had these swings a few times already and compared to many companies during the dot com bubble they've also seen similar movements. The good thing about that is that many actual "shit" companies/coins will not survive this period so it feels great seeing so many new projects being built on a weekly basis on Steem and people still being excited about SMT's.

Anyway, I've been lately moving around some altcoins here and there trying to grab some Steem as these prices have seem ridiculously undervalued to me but who can tell if they can drop lower, it sure would not surprise me at this point anymore. I am at least hoping that Bitcoin won't breach the $3k price, if it does than there may be something wrong that the majority are not aware of.

Anyway, as a manual curator I've mentioned before that you can be a lot more selective what kind of content or users you reward on a daily basis and I'd be lying if I told you that I've just been focusing on rewarding quality of content. Although that is not the only factor in it I believe it is important to reward the people who put a lot of effort into their daily Steem activity and have shown themselves to be long term thinkers than short term gainers. Though I understand that some may be gambling with trading for other coins and planning on buying back Steem with it later, it's not easy to read people's minds. I like to reward users who have stuck with Steem and are powering up as much as they can and buying Steem at these prices because they see the advantages of our platform and the long term vision of it.

Having said that, these dips are important for the currency. Even though you may not like that some random outsiders are able to accumulate a lot of Steem at these cheap prices, distribution of stake is important in one way or another. A lot of people earn Steem the easy way compared to currencies that require you to invest in hardware and electricity that's why I do believe that has an influence on the big swings of the price, but those same users will also sell at any price because they have not earned the coins with a lot of effort. I do believe though that many of those selling today thinking "oh well I'll just earn it back later" will find out how much harder it has become to earn Steem now than it was a two or even a year ago. Not only that but crypto swings can happen so fast and so sudden that many won't even get the chance to buy back in even if they wanted to.

Anyway, who has been making the most of these prices lately and been powering up? :)

@acidyo, I am powering up :).
I am a crypto enthusiast. I believe in the bright future of crypto in a long run. This is our gratest opportunity: to buy cheap crypto in the next months, quarters, years and pile up. So, I am every month powering up. A part of my sallary goes into Steem Power :).

One day the scalability issue of Bitcoin will be solved, and the price of Bitcoin will start rising again. And, of course, the crypto will follow the price direction of Bitcoin. I hope that STEEM will survive the downtrend. So, in additioin to bitcoin, I will continue to buy STEEM and convert into Steem Power. I've been working on the financial markets for the last 12-13 years and have seen many market crashes (of different financial assets). So, I am not scared. In my view, the best solution is to invest in crypto every month small pieces of fiat money, that you are ready to completely lose in case something goes wrong with the crypto market. So, If I do this for the next 2-3 years, I will be able to gather a lot of crypto at cheap prices. I hope that in 2-3 years the scalability issue of BTC will be solved, and the crypto will start rising again. And BTC will reach again, let's say in 5 years time, $10 000... then $20 000 ... then $50 000, then ... $100 000 and in 10 to 15 years $1 million. If STEEM survives the downtrend, then in 10-15 years time, the price may reach $50 or even $100 and more.... To be honest, the fiat money will drift away, nobody will care about the USD...So, those quotes in USD will become even obsolete and irrelevant.
So, that is my friend. No panic ;). Just keep on Steeming. If you want you can watch my videos about BTC, crypto, STEEM, etc.

I’ve been coming back in slowly the last couple of weeks. Let’s get it! 💪🏼🙌🏼💯

I don’t want to write a long comment since you will receive many comments. But I think a picture often equals 1000 words.

And the more price dives the more I will purchase.

Hey @acidyo I just recently powered up after some of my favorite influencers started going all in again on their favorite picks. Which made me do some thinking. Steem is the only platform I use and currently love. I have 4 accounts and have been on here for my first year. And loving @steemmonsters

Took a break recently, but still have not lost faith.

I bought some just two days ago. I don't want to look back in a couple years and have the regret of not buying at such a low price. As long as everyone follows the golden rule of only investing what you can afford to lose then this is a great price to get in at IMO.

There is a crypto that has broken away from the grasp of bitcoin and I write about here.

Any other ones than xrp? Not a big fan of xrp at all, I'm hoping we see some more alts on big fiat exchanges in the near future.

Yeah, allot don't like XRP as its not a traditional crypto. I like it as an investment for the very reason others don't like it at all. It was the first crypto I invested in.

I have some others but I don't think they are too promising, TRKC , BTCZ, GENE among others. One I do have a little of that I think may bounce back is AC3. Currently its about 2 cents and was normally selling around 20 - 45 cents before the giant downswing we are experiencing.

I have 1500 steem power that I have earned from the scratch without funds because I didn't have the funds to invest and so I have worked hard for it. Am not planning to sell or power down. I will stay vested in steem as long as it exists and I will keep trying to post regularly.

@yaanivapeji.

I bought some Steem already when the price was around 0,60€, but now as it's still going down I'm thinking if I should buy some.. the issue is that I don't have that much money to spare, Christmas coming and all.

However I'm sure it all would pay itself back on a long run, especially as I know I'd feel bad later if I had missed prices like this.

Also I'm assuming when the price goes up next time, everyone will be complaining "Oh I wish I had bought earlier!"
Well that's the thing.

don't have that much money to spare, Christmas coming and all.

I bet those pushing prices down know this, that's why they hope people will have to sell and won't be able to buy as much. So much psychology in these markets.

Well I'm assuming you also know the term "mätkyt", that's also a big dealbreaker in here. I can make cookies as a gift to the family, but the government doesn't accept my tax money with cookies..

I really was hoping I could buy some Steem. Now I can imagine how someone in tax office is using my €€€ to buy some Steem to his account.

I picked up a lot in the 80s, another at 59 cents, and my last at 40 cents.

There is still a bit of powder in my keg so I can buy now with more being moved over (6 day waiting period).

My next buy will be at 30 cents or 50 cents, whichever comes first.

After that, I should have two more buys in my account to add as the price increases or if it pulls back from 50 cents to lower levels.

Personally, I am hoping for 10 cents...I might make it to Orca then.

I'm hoping we don't drop under 30, would be a nice bottom compared to last one being 6c.

I have been doing the same. Flipping alt coins for bitcoin as they spasm and accumulating more bitcoin.
I have been doing the same with steem and buying at each new low but have not sold any. I have also been working hard to save money to throw on exchanges to buy more as well.
Now is the cheapest time since I have paid attention and I wish I had the cash to buy a dolphin stake and lock it in.

Wish I had more depreciating fiat to throw at these prices right now as well.

Me too.
