For those of you following my posts, you might remember I had a pagan event that spanned the entire weekend this past week. Saturday was double booked and a little crazy due to the Chalk4Peace event being held that day, but luckily the two events were only about 5 miles apart! We were only there for about half of the event because I had to get back to Samhain Nights for my children’s garden workshop and sister circle pendulum workshop. However, it's definitely an event worth telling you about!

Chalk4Peace began in 2003 in Arlington, Virginia and is a movement to bring awareness to peace through art. This year, 2019, was actually the 14th year as a worldwide event. Their main website lists the following as their mission statement:

**- To promote the arts by coordinating assemblies of young artists of all ages to draw their vision of peace in public and private spaces with sidewalk chalk as a scheduled worldwide event;
  • To advocate for peace in a non-partisan manner such that all people may share their visions and messages of peace without regard to their nationality, ethnicity, or political beliefs;
  • To encourage relationships between municipalities and artists so that communities around the world become united in supporting the expression of peace.**

@aurynthenorse brought a friend to film his magic show

I had not heard of Chalk4Peace before I got involved with CWEET (Clean Water Expected in East Tennessee), a local non-profit that focuses on many environmental concerns here in our region along with sustainable living issues in general. I will be writing more about them soon, as they are one of several non-profits I am involved with. CWEET organizes and holds the annual pro-peace event here in our sleepy little town, and this year it was this past Saturday.

The weather was quite lovely all day and while we didn’t have a huge turnout, the folks who came were very participative and full of smiles!

Kindness, respect, cooperation, friendship and other words were found throughout the drawings

My 8th grader @aurynthenorse presented a magic show (look for his upcoming post all about it), my 7th grader @cassidydawn did a diy workshop on how to make paper out of old paper scraps, and I read Dr. Suess' The Lorax for kids of all ages.

@cassidydawn left the clear message of the Lorax among the rocks ~ UNLESS

As I was checking out the website for Chalk4Peace in order to research a little for this post, I thoroughly enjoyed all of the photos of children around the globe taking part in such a beautiful event. As a homeschool parent and someone who spends a LOT of time on raising small humans, I have always made sure to encourage them to stand up for what they believe in. Whether educating people, bringing attention to a worthy cause, planting trees, picking up trash ~ whatever the cause, be proactive and part of the solution.

So nice! What about adultism? ;-)
@tipu curate

@anli I tend to think of adulting as rather boring, though I certainly do a lot of it. It's much more fun to envision children of all ages working together to capture that inner spirit! Imagination is one of, if not the greatest superpower we are given in this lifetime. It's the loss of that superpower that lessens our ability to see the world with wonder and causes us to forget how to achieve sights unseen!

True, and guess what, I took the wrong word for what I meant. LOL I wanted to mention ageism and got a little lost in translation. :-)
