Hello steemians i bring you an exclusive interview with one of the first users on steemit i call him an alpha @dragonslayer109

I conducted this interview because of the alarming cost of internet in South Africa and Nigeria, as this has become a hinderance for prospective users that will want to join steemit.
Africa does not have it easy when it comes to buying internet time, so i took a time to ask @dragonslayer109 what his challenges have been as well as tapping into his rich archive of experiences, telling me how he started on steemit, his travails, challenges and finally success story.
Enjoy the excerp and feel free to air your views.
@Josediccus: My name is Joseph Ikechukwu I'm 24, and a Nigerian, and I studied journalism at moshood Abiola polytechnic,
@Josediccus: Sir what are your real names?
@Josediccus: Okay sir how did you get to find out about steemit?
@Josediccus: when you started what were your initial challenges?
@Dragonslayer: the first actual payout on steemit, beforehand there where none and we were all wondering if it was really going to happen.
@Josediccus: This is wonderful, so you are from Durban? How has the high cost of internet in SA determined your productivity on steemit?
@Dragonslayer: I am from Johannesburg, If the price of steem is low and the amount of $ per post is not enough to cover my costs it is then pointless for me to post as I will be making a loss.
@Josediccus: And how did south Africans accepted the legitimacy of Steemit?
@Dragonslayer: Not many people know about it, but for those who join don't find it a scam. Most which join also don't buy steem and invest it into steem power untill they have been on the platform for a while.
@Josediccus: When you join did you have any doubts? Or get any discouragement from friends?
@Dragonslayer: I had a lot of discoragement from most of my family, only my dad was not against it as he wanted me to try it out. The discouragement was due to the fact that they wanted to see actual money coming out and that I was wasting my time due to the first payout only being the 4th July 2016
@Josediccus: How did you feel getting your first payout?
@Dragonslayer: I felt really rich and excited, I saw my account value climbing each day and to see it go from $100 to over $1000 was mind blowing
@Josediccus: what are your challenges trying to convince a newcomer to join steemit?
@Dragonslayer: I don't have challenges with getting people to join, my main challenge is getting them to stay.
@Josediccus: How can you compare steemit then, and steemit now? Any differences?
@Dragonslayer: Huge differences, mainly in the distribution of $ among posts, before only some people were making all the money. Now a lot more are getting value on their posts, there is also a lot more users.
@Josediccus: who were the first users or can I say Alphas, who you got to meet when you became friends with?
@Dragonslayer: @timsaid was one of the guys I used to chat to, there are a lot of guys I know from back then some good friends and others I have had the odd conversation with.
@Dragonslayer: I have spoken to them before and if they needed any help from me I would gladly help them out.
@Josediccus: what would you like to change on steemit if you were @ned
@Dragonslayer: just the layout of steemit in general.
@Josediccus: do you think whales should curate good post instead of selling to upvoting robots?
@Dragonslayer: Thing is many of them don't have the time. My suggestion would be to delegate or have someone else upvote with their account on projects or promotion posts and people.
@Josediccus: And lastly, what will be your advice to users who are just joining steemit?
@Dragonslayer: Make sure to be active and actively involved in the communities you join
@Josediccus: Thank you so much sir for your selflessness and your time
