El Muay Thai

También es llamado Boxeo Tailandés, es el deporte oficial de Tailandia y es un arte marcial que esta ligado fuertemente a la historia de ese País. Es conocido como el Deporte de las 8 armas ya que se usan todas las partes del cuerpo (Codos, rodillas, brazos y piernas) además antiguamente los luchadores de Muay Thai solían usar la cabeza para golpear.

Sus orígenes se remontan a las fundaciones mismas de Tailandia cuando era llamada Reino de Siam, en esos tiempos era necesario aprender métodos de lucha para poder subsistir debido a las constantes disputas con las naciones aledañas. En Tiempos de paz o a volver de la guerra, en las aldeas se organizaban combates de entretenimiento sin un reglamento muy definido, siendo característicos por ser combates a puño descubierto.

En 1922 tras la muerte de un peleador, se acordó el uso de guantes de boxeo occidental además de incorporar elementos como los Rounds con tiempos de duración predeterminados para los combates. El Muay Thai pasó de ser un método para sobrevivir en el antiguo reino de Siam, a ser el deporte nacional de Tailandia y a ser una de las artes marciales mas letales y efectivas practicadas alrededor del mundo en cuyos torneos asisten miles de personas como espectadores.

The Muay Thai

It is also called Thai Boxing, it is the official sport of Thailand and it is a martial art that is strongly linked to the history of that Country. It is known as the Sport of the 8 weapons since all parts of the body are used (elbows, knees, arms and legs) in addition formerly the Muay Thai fighters used to use their heads to hit.

Its origins go back to the very foundations of Thailand when it was called Kingdom of Siam, in those times it was necessary to learn methods of struggle to be able to subsist due to the constant disputes with the surrounding nations. In Times of peace or to return from the war, in the villages entertainment combats were organized without a very defined regulation, being characteristic for being fist fights.

In 1922 after the death of a fighter, it was agreed to use western boxing gloves in addition to incorporating elements such as the Rounds with predetermined duration times for the fights. The Muay Thai went from being a method to survive in the ancient kingdom of Siam, to be the national sport of Thailand and to be one of the most lethal and effective martial arts practiced around the world in whose tournaments thousands of people attend as spectators.

The Process

Conocer las proporciones del cuerpo humano es fundamental para realizar dibujos que contengan sujetos a cuerpo completo, y mucho más cuando se quiere dar la impresión de movimiento, para realizar el boceto inicial estuve un par de horas, dibujando incluso las lineas que separaban las luces de las sombras para dar un mejor resultado.

Para la piel de los peleadores usé lápices 6H y 2H, para la ropa lápices 2B y 4B, y para el fondo lápices 10B y 8B.

Know the proportions of the human body is essential to make drawings that contain subjects to complete body, and much more when you want to give the impression of movement, to make the initial sketch was a couple of hours, drawing even the lines that separated the lights of the shadows to give a better result.

For the skin of the fighters I used pencils 6H and 2H, for the clothes pencils 2B and 4B, and for the background pencils 10B and 8B.

Las sombras y los brillos del cuerpo en el primer peleador son bastante marcadas acorde con un punto de luz en la esquina superior izquierda que se apreciara mas adelante, esto le da bastante contraste y hace marcar los músculos del peleador y las arrugas del rostro por el impacto de la patada.

The shadows and shines of the body in the first fighter are quite marked according to a point of light in the upper left corner that will be appreciated later, this gives a lot of contrast and makes mark the muscles of the fighter and the wrinkles of the face by the impact of the kick.

Para esta obra, trabajé incluso los detalles de las letras en la ropa de los peleadores, cuidar estos mínimos detalles son lo mas importante a considerar si se quiere hacer una obra con alto nivel de realismo.

For this work, I worked even the details of the letters in the clothes of the fighters, taking care of these minimum details are the most important thing to consider if you want to do a work with a high level of realism.

El fondo en negro fue bastante complicado, usé lápices 10B y 8B sin usar algodones para difuminar para darle una estructura mas fuerte al dibujo, no solo se trató de dar contraste para resaltar a los peleadores en primer plano, sino que también se encontraban algunas zonas de iluminaciones fuertes, además de los espectadores, estos detalles finalmente dieron a la obra un alto nivel de calidad y realismo.

The background in black was quite complicated, I used pencils 10B and 8B without using cotton to blur to give a stronger structure to the drawing, not only tried to give contrast to highlight the fighters in the foreground, but also found some areas of strong illuminations, in addition to the spectators, these details finally gave the work a high level of quality and realism.
