in #art7 years ago (edited)

The cards have been drawn and the Club of #Antiheroes has assembled! A nice range of styles and skills on display here and I'm stoked to say that you guys surpassed my expectations! You guys have come up with some amazing artwork for this content so I took the liberty of tidying up your cards a bit for this presentation.

Man, I think "Under the Red Hood" is one of my favorite animated movies ever. Great choice on the character, one of Gotham's more morally grey protagonists. You did well documenting the various stages of your drawing. I especially like that you used a range of tools to achieve your shading and value. A good choice for the Jack of Spades and a terrific entry into The Club of Antiheroes!

Gotham salutes thee and so do I.

Oh this is a really strong entry Klaudia! I like that you took an established character and gave it a spin of your own. Watching you construct the drawing in layers is rather fascinating. As a deity Loki is a good choice for the Ace! He most certainly is an Antihero too! You also did well documenting your process and then turning it into an animation, the gif is very smooth! You do seem to have invented a fifth suit of cards though ;)

Down the Bifrost and back again.

Another very strong entry by @marinaart after taking the prize last time I really like where you went with this. Picking an unusual character (at least in the public eye), especially one that is steeped in slavic folklore is a terrific choice. He looks like he could be a boss in the Witcher. Good use of lighting and mood too. The character itself is great for a card of kings and I appreciate that you included so much of your process. You have done well and thanks for participating!

Choosing Anime characters is a more than viable route, though I must admit that I only know Lelouch and Rin out of the four. Durarara! I must still check out. I do appreciate that it represents a personal connection for you and the the black and white design of the king and queen is terrific. Rin and Lelouch are good choices for the Queen and Jack, and certainly for the suit of clubs. Slightly on the pragmatic and strategic side with a dash of chaos. Extra points for using an unusual software to create these.

A true Jack of Clubs, this Jack is as befitting of a card as any character. The pirate and gambler in Sparrow certiainly befit the context of the contest. Well done! I also enjoyed that you departed a bit from the established look of Captain Sparrow and went for a more illustrative route. You also provided the whole process and rounded of your post with a cool animation thus fulfilling the brief!

Yo-ho-ho a Pirate's life for me

I appreciate your choice of character! The Xmen as such are a terrific choice for a task such as this one and I am happy you chose one of the less major characters (in the films anyways). Of course it seems logical now that Gambit would be the natural choice for the jack of spades.

I like that you posted that the various steps and the animation is good too thus fulfilling the quest. I think the final piece looks very good in terms of texture and color. Very fine art!

Aw man Spawn is such a good choice for the King Card and a rather quintessential antihero indeed! I really dig that you dug up so much lore and context for your drawing as well. From sketch to finished card, this is a technically strong and well presented entry with a unique flavor. I wish you would have an animated gif, but we can't have it all. Nevertheless you have done exceedingly well and thus first place goes to you. Congratulations!

make sure to have a wallet that can receive BitShares, if you don't I recommend BitShares.org!

Congratulations to all contestants of the Sketch Off Contest - Edition 2 ✏

That was awesome!

The Strongest Hand:

In a game of Texas Hold em' the best hand you could make with the cards you guys made would be a Full House (Kings full of Aces). This hand has the pattern AAABB where A and B are from distinct kinds. Three-of-a-kind and a pair in the same hand. If two or more players all hold a full house, the highest three-of-a-kind wins. So, if a hand contained 3 aces and 2 kings (also known as "Aces full of Kings") it would beat 3 kings and 2 aces (also known as "Kings full of Aces").

I had a great time hosting this event, again you guys made it very hard for me to choose a winner! So many different interpretations, it's tough to stay objective sometimes but I hope you all agree with my selections. The next edition of The Sketch Off is already in the works along with some other surprises. Until then, watch this space and keep on crafting!

Well played y'all...well played!
Til' next time,
