When I was in my early 20's I had an obsession with color. I wanted to taste the richness on my tongue, I wanted to feel the temperature of its vibration. I never got there with drugs or art and eventually the obsession faded into a crush.
Recently my brother invited me to his workplace for a tour. He works for a Mosaic Art Supply Company that also houses a few studio spaces for the artists that work there.
Putting my hands into buckets of brightly colored tiles may have awakened my primal love of colors. The coolness of thick porcelain in a primary rainbow, the fragility of blue swirled glass, the patterned possibilities where shape and color combined.
