The Piglet and the Hedgehog

I asked for suggestions:

Pipe organs are horrible to draw. My mom used to be (and still is) very involved in the local church community, so I grew up playing with the minister's kids, playing hide and seek in the church and, of course, pressing some random keys on the pipe organ.

More than once, I had the organist explain the details to me. Which levers I had to pull to create which sound, how the instrument works and why there are so many fucking pipes.

I wanted to recreate that for my drawing but it's super boring to draw as many pipes as the pipe organ in my childhood church had. Or maybe I just remember it incorrectly, I was about six years old after all and everything looks bigger!

The piglet is playing the top row of keys, the hedgehog is doing his best to take care of the bottom row, but it's hard if your arms are very tiny, so he mostly sticks to just running from left to right and back. Piglet doesn't care, doing something with a friend is more important than the music sounding like something that was composed by Mozart.

Sort:

hopefully the piglet doesn't slip and play a couple notes on the bottom or else he might get a spiky surprise...

Indeed! in fact every scale played down there would automatically become sharp.....well except "b" and "e" of course... that would be silly.

Meanwhile, the wolf is confessing his sins to priest.

Do you want that drawn?

I do.
I never thought you'd ask me :)

But friend Piglet looks much too short to reach the pedals! Who will work them?

A pipe organ is a beautiful instrument; playing a tune on one without leveraging its massive pedal power is a sad thing indeed! Perhaps this is how friend Hedgehog could pull its weight :)

You know what is funny? I didn't even think about the fact that a pipe organ is supposed to have pedals, probably because I was too short myself during the time I frequently saw pipe organs.

Oh, no! The pedals are the most important part!

I always knew since I was a child that there was something missing in most radio music, especially from those tinny supermarket speakers. I didn't hear much of it; it wasn't really banned, but contemporary music was of this world and not for us. I had no idea what bass or treble were... but I knew that the best thing about church was that freakin' organ announcing the final, triumphant verse of whatever hymn on whatever page....

WOMMMMMMPH!
