Egon Schiele

Hello dear art enthusiasts,
today we'll explore the style of the one of the most beloved expressionist from Vienna, Egon Schiele.

Egon Schiele (1890.-1918) was a painter from Vienna who fought against the conservative streams as in painting as in life. He did die very young at the age of 28, however he created a specific way of painting that makes him truly remarkable in the history of visual art.

He went to the Vienna school of fine arts and was thought by Gustav Klimt, an secession artist from Vienna. He led a pretty unschooled and boemic lifestyle. He died from the epidemia of strong flu that killed 20 million people among the Europe, including his own wife who died 3 days before him.

The nudes and portraits dominate most of his works, which are filled with pain, strong, expressive lines and often show sick figures. His figures often have many colors in their faces that could be only seen from a close up.
His paintings bends and distorts the figures and shows the hard-times of life, as well as human pain and suffering. Pay attention to the hands that often look like cramped in his paintings, disfigured skinny bodies are often too.
The most haunting thing for me personally is the fact that he uses so much color in the subtle way in the faces of his figures, as a way of emotionally shaping their aura, vibe, expression or whatever that correlates the color- sound and vibration theories that were explored at the time.
