Best artists on Steem? 15-$BD Give away - help me support artist on steem!
Tools that give artists the ability to self distribute are badly needed. Steem is a beautiful platform but it needs a lot of work in order to compete with our evil step mom platforms.
You know the ones. The vampire social media platforms. Those for profit centralized platforms that make money off of your creative spirit. The platforms that, let's face it, most people use. How are we going to convince artist to move to a less populated and unfortunately spammy platform? A good community is the number one factor that will bring more users to steem. Financial support is the engine of steem, but it is nothing but a low grade cash grab without quality users to interact with.
Luckily steem already has a great community. Still a work in progress, it's young, active tag groups are few and it lacks certain essential tools. Filtering of tags and feeds is very behind other sites, making it hard to wade through all the garbage (what is considered garbage is any one's personal preference). This is why I'm asking for your help, I find steem is still hard to navigate.
Community is where i'd like to focus my efforts in order to help the steem chain bloom.
As an artist and cryptonerd, I'm gearing up to be an advocate for artists on steem and blockchain/crypto tech in general. I'm here to support the artists of steem, help build steem into a better platform for artists, and introduce real world artists communities to these platforms. The details of my long term strategy will be made transparent in an introductory post in the coming weeks, but I couldn't wait to dig deeper into what steem has to offer.
Guidelines:
As any curation is a type of filtering, i'm looking for artists that tell a story or critique culture. Those that display a unique voice and who aren't afraid to change the world through the magic spell of their own art. Pictures of sunsets and flowers are nice (please excuse my own flowery art pictured above), but i I'm interested in artists that take it at least one step further, those that move you in ways you can't quite pin down.
Edit: I had a list of types of art that I wasn't interested in, but i decided that was in bad taste. If you have something you believe to be good art then please share it!
Artists:
Upvotes and Follows!
I'm looking for the best artists on steem to support with upvotes, and resteems. My feed right now is full of too much crypto garbage, and steem chain circle jerking! I don't make a promise to upvote or subscribe to anyone, but if you leave a comment, i'll check out your work and would love to add you if it's my vibe.
Curators:
15 $BD give away! Distributed for those who introduce me to new artists to follow
Here are the rules:
- 15 sbd Total
- 3 sbd for each suggestion split between my top 5 picks of suggested artists
- users can collect on more than one suggestion, as long as they are a top 5 pick
- repeat suggestions will go to user comment with earliest time stamp
- SBD will be distributed after this post has matured.
- you can't get SBD for suggesting yourself (but again, i will up vote and follow you if I like your work)

I LOVE what you are doing! Please add me to your artist community. I agree this place has a lot of spam. But the genuine support and comradery I see is like nowhere else. Take a moment to check out some of my art work this is the one that did the best https://steemit.com/art/@barrysamways/how-to-draw-macklemore-art-lesson but I would also encourage you to check out this post I made a few hours ago I am having a hard time getting it see I feel like people just don't get the concept yet but I am trying to inspire and teach beginning artists the fundamentals through a steemit series
https://steemit.com/art/@barrysamways/fundamental-foundations-of-art-1-negativespace
I don't even care about the reward. I just would greatly appreciate any tips or help possible for getting my posts seen!
I followed you and upvoted your post. lets work together and create a strong community of supporting artists that benefit for each other!
Hey Barry, thanks for your comment. Your drawings are very good. Ill follow and keep an eye out for your series.
Please let me know do you have any favorite artists on steem?
its hard to know who is genuine a lot of the times but @clunky seems like an awesome steemit artist. he is always posting and verified with steem logo on art. been following him since I started here @JNArt Is awesome too
Thanks for this initiative to support artists on Steem! I write short stories and poems and post them here on Steem, however they (almost exclusively) written in Spanish, although I've posted a few things in English and plan to keep on doing that every so often.
However, this comment is not to advocate for myself, but to link you to @fakj94 and his amazing work as a photographer. He's very dedicated in his posts and likes to showcase his photographs, which in my opinion are amazing. He also has a handful of other interesting posts, besides photography, in his blog. Even if his mother tongue (as well as mine) is English, his photographs speak an unique, universal language by themselves.
This is one of his most recent posts: https://steemit.com/spanish/@fakj94/muestra-ii-de-arquitecturas-de-exteriores-e-interiores in which he showcases Venezuelan architecture
He also publishes a selection of pictures every day; this is one of his most recent ones: https://steemit.com/spanish/@fakj94/angulos-comunicativos-a-la-orilla-de-la-ciudad-sci-fi-caracas-metal-y-cristal-seleccion-diaria-de-fotos
Hope you like his work and support him!
I feel the same way about too much crypto on here and have been resteeming every art contest that crosses my feed as a way to support the arts here on steemit.
I am a working artist (I live gig to gig so I know how hard it is to try and live freely as an artist) and have always appreciated others that support the life.
I hope you enjoy my page -- I studied painting but actually make more money off of my fiber art. I also engage in poetry and writing. I think most artists are complex and do not just do one thing, at least I am this way.
Most of my painting is allegory of an esoteric kind, I literally have hundreds... once in a while I do still life stuff as part of a class and so I have a few of those floating around and just entered one in a contest as my usual work scares people.... here is a post of what I'm working one currently:

And here is another of these "beings" that come to my dreams:
https://steemit.com/creativecomp/@mamadini/oil-on-canvas-composition-is-from-a-series-of-dreams-creative-competition-entryThank you for the beacon of light.
Most times when I post what I paint I get hardly no feedback so I have kind of stopped posting about painting, even though I am a painter.

The time of payment is over, but I hope you will like it to see it, maybe it will brings you in good mood)))
I would like to be in your community of artist. I like this idea.
Oops, sorry to be confusing that was actually a list of things I said I wasn't particularly interested in. I've edited that out though because i think excluding is the wrong way to do it (and obviously the way it was worded was confusing)!
I think your work is great. Steemit is young and user owned so it's awesome that people want to make art to support the network. However I think paintings of whales or the steemit logo more as a type of advertising or network commissioned piece.
I'm following you, just know in the future the type of work of yours that I will support is your work like your fairy piece which is very beautiful, but probably not paintings advertising the network. This is because I think it's not actually good for the network in the long run, it makes steem feel like a big circlejerk! Love the fish watercolor though.
Also, if you have any favorite artists on steem, please let me know, that's what this post is all about!
ok, sorry, I didn't understood well, english is not my the best))))
Here in steemit I like art of @dcrockete, his works are very hight skill of technic, and the works always have feelings and atmosphere. I hope you will like it!

I'm an artist myself., I make music, visual art and write a bit! @juliakponsford
I would also recommend @yusaymon @vachemorte @greatdabu @ensh @thetruthbomb @isaria @marty-art oh dear I could go on forever the artist community here is amazing. I run a contest and there is an artist list pasted there if you would like to explore more, it is by no means exhaustive though!
I did this website for artists to showcase and sell their artworks for SBD - and it is fully free. http://www.steemarket.com/
Awesome, i will look into this and your other projects
