An Inside Look At Blobfish Evolution 2: Original Art
Hey guys!
I've got some original art for you, as a continuation of my "Original Art" series here on Steemit.
My last art post was also about a blobfish mutant:
The Sprite
So, these are actually assets for a game, so I've got them animated and such.
Idle
Around the time when SNES games were reaching their zenith, developers started to give character sprites a special animation for waiting too long.
Sonic would tap his foot. Crono would do a little "whoop" type thing.
Well, this is what our blobfish hero does.
Swim
Now, technically, real blobfish don't even swim.
They just kind of... float around the bottom of the sea until something edible floats down in front of their faces.
But this blobfish swims! And here's how he does it.
Hit
What good is as mutant blobfish if it can't HIT???
Our hero will hit his fellow blobfish, and then -- out of love -- he will...
Absorb
So, if you don't know the idea behind Blobfish Evolution, you basically knock out and cannibalize your own species, which causes you to transform into an increasingly horrible monster.
The absorbing tends to be, shall we say -- unique?
What do you think?
This is an up close and personal inside-look at asset development.
Is this interesting to you?
Let me know in the comments :D
I worship the great BLOBFISH! Praise to the Blob!!
yes it is! very!
following!
One more eye and it's a federal crime
Maybe I'm biased because I'm into art but yea this interests me :) And yea the absorbing is the fave out of the bunch. Nice work all around can tell some good though went into making them flow well.
Oh dear loard... I cannot wait to see the game.
The absorb is almost too much, but not quiet. Just enough to make me question my existence.
this appeals to the twisted child in me. i remember in early versions of windows they had that annoying animated paperclip with the bugeyes that kept trying to get your attention like a child that had to go pee but didn't want to just blurt it out ;). keep up the good work!
It looks great @shayne. You've created a sad but loveable character!
