My First Art Commission
Many moons ago when I was active on DeviantArt, I was messaged by another user asking if I could create the cover art for his upcoming collection of short stories.
This was my first art commission ever. I'm trying to think of the date... it must have been in 2010 or 2011. I'm going to say '11. The book is called Strange Happenings. It was going to be a collection of science-fiction short stories. I say, "going to be" because as far as I know, the book was never released.
The most recent reference to the book I could find was from a 2013 interview with the author saying it should be published later that same year... I guess that didn't happen.
I would have liked to have seen my art on a book jacket... but no matter. I still have my piece and I got paid. That's freelancing life.

Some of my art had been used on record covers and event posters - usually just some Heavy Metal band, and I didn't charge them. In one instance I was a bit disappointed with the lettering and graphics they added. So in future, I will be asking for more control over the end product.
I sell originals, and posters of my work, but if one can find it (I am not advertising the location), I had posted pretty well all my artwork under a Creative Commons, Non-Derivative and Non-Commercial license.
I usually find out if someone uses my work commercially.
