I am reality and I am hooked on reality (Visual Cut-Up)

in #art8 years ago (edited)

I am reality and I am hooked, on, reality.
I can’t look at anything. I am blind.
That is, I need a human host.
Cut-ups slightly modified by modern means
I've come to free the visuals

William S. Burroughs,
“The Beginning Is Also the End" (excerpt 1963):

I am not an addict. I am the addict. The addict I invented to keep this show on the junk road. I am all the addicts and all the junk in the world. I am junk and I am hooked forever. Now, I am using junk as a basic illustration. Extend it. I am reality and I am hooked, on, reality. Give me an old wall and a garbage can and I can, by God, sit there forever. Because I am the wall and I am the garbage can. But I need someone to sit there and look at the wall and the garbage can. That is, I need a human host. I can’t look at anything. I am blind. I can’t sit anywhere. I have nothing to sit on.

I am reality and I am hooked, on, reality.

Give me an image and a knife and I can, by God,
sit, cut up and remix there forever.

Psychedelic Sundays: The Yage Letters

William Burroughs’ Junkie ended with Yage may be the final fix. In letters to Allen Ginsberg, a young poet in New York at the time, recorded his journey to the Amazon jungle, detailing vividly incidents of a search for Yagé — the common name for Ayahuasca, or Banisteripsis Caape — the fabled “soul-rebooting” hallucinogen of the Amazon region treated as a traditional spiritual medicine and usually consumed in shaman-led ceremonies. Author and recipient of these letters met again in New York, Christmas 1953, and edited the writings to form this single book, The Yage Letters. The correspondence contains the first seeds of the later Burroughs' bizarre fantasy style in Naked Lunch.

Do you post on any other platforms for artists? doesn't matter if it's crypto or not.

yea I do, I kind of got my 'start' on minds.com that where the whole SatoriD thing emerged from, but I test out things like peep, and akasha have youtube, bitchute, all of which are mostly afterthoughts, like facebook or twitter. but minds is my home base, then steem and peep is interesting...

Weird, i've never heard of minds.com before, I'll have to get on there and try it out. Is it feed based like steem? I'm sure it's pretty different, but what do you like about it over steem?

Well Joined Minds in 2015, one of the early adopters and it just was a different experience of social media, finally got some feedback to the strange poetry that I would write, we had a nice community of misfit creatives, so it just somewhere I feel l kinship towards it, even tho is really different now and most of the community of the old school is not really there anymore, I still feel like being a lighthouse.

But the feed is actually better then steem, in the sense of trying to get your post out there in the wider user base, but there is a lot of bots, shitposter, that have plagued the content eco-system, which a lot like everywhere else.

so everything has its problems, but minds is where i finally thought you know what I am just gonna keep on expressing myself creatively and playing around with all the digital paints that i can find. =D

Ah, that sounds really nice. I have been hoping for steem to turn into a more friendly place for artists, but am recently wondering if it's a failure. I have half the thought of checking out minds and meeting you over there, but sounds like it has the same problem. I have to read the whitepaper later though cause it's extremely vague the way it works, while I at least understand the core infrastructure of steem.
