STREET MURAL IBIZA. 2016.
Two years ago today I have just been reminded that I had finished a mural I did on the street outside my studio in Ibiza.
I had no idea what I was going to do.
I just let paint get on the surface and start bringing out the shapes I could see just as I do in paintings.
It´s always more scary to do this in a public space and on a permanent surface like a wall. The experience was good and I got to know a lot of the people who lived on this street who would stop by to talk and exchange ideas.
Here are some pics of the process. It was painted during a whole week, each day painting between 3 and 6 hours, depending on the distractions I had from neighbours.
Two years later it still stands there at the entrance and I have only had to fix a little part in these two years when a seagull shat on it! ;-)
This is near the sea and when the weather is rough they go inland and keep flying over this area.

This one was painted in 2016 so that is may be why you didn´t see it! I have a few more but not in public spaces.

Very beautiful! Didn't you worry about the weather though? I mean what if it suddenly started raining?
right now it´s unusually raining quite a bit, but on the whole it hardly rains here! I painted with latex based paints and they dry immediately! the problem is usually the oposite, find days that are not too hot or paint most of it in the shade!

I love how you work, such a magical result. Do you see visions in the dark as well? I only ask because I notice that those that work with pattern recognition often do.
I see shapes in day and night.. patterns appear frequently!
What an incredibly light filled work. I have such respect for artists that can do this. All artists are able to use light and shadow to create form, but there are very few that can create a painting that feels as if light is coming through the painting. It creates a sense of depth and warmth. Love it.

haha! yes, the street name is always a joke...I´m on the corner of Miguel Angel street! and just one up from Salvador Dali street. The whole area is named after artist!
