Joker is a fictional super villain Character in the Batman series.He is a criminal mastermind and a psychopath.This character have been played by many actors but there are two best performances of joker character
jack nicholson played the joker role in 1989 for which He was nominated for Golden globe .He acted really well people enjoyed his joker role and most of them said he was better than Heath Ledger. but their character as joker was different from each other
Jack was kind of funny weird clown who had a name and his role was to take revenge from batman.
But ledger was an insane psychopath and mass murderer.He did not give a shit taking people lives.

I don't know about Jack Nicholson but i am sure that he was nowhere near Heath Ledger. Dark knight's joker was not just mass murderer, he took extreme measures to prove his points.

there were a fair few jokers. including mark hamill from the flash ? but heath was superb for playing the psychopath, with unexpectedness

Heath Ledger is my money, He just made you believe that he could do all those things.
thats what actors do to let you believe in their role
