Jonah Lomu - Work In Progress

in #art7 years ago (edited)

Splatter Background

48 x 24, acrylic on cotton canvas, 2017

One more layer of white on the blue lines to take the kick out of the light blue, it's popping too much. I used a straw and dropper to blow the paint across the canvas. My husband said something like, " good job blowing that paint." I almost hyperventilated blowing the paint around. Now I'm exhausted, just one more layer on the stripes to lighten up the blue and I'm done!

I still have logos to put on the clothes and ball, fix Jonah's face so leg brush strokes carry up to the face. I must remember to keep my brush patterns the same through my painting.

Verification and progress report.

Cool painting - he was a bit of a hero in NZ!

He is my hero too, an amazing person. This is a gift I'm giving to a friend of our family that coaches rugby here in Tulsa and works with several charities that help troubled youth.

That's a LOT of blowing paint through a straw. I can imagine it's time to sit back on the couch and just breathe. Very nice, coming along quite well. Thanks for sharing the process.

@ddschteinn, I drop the paint on the surface of the painting and using a straw blow the droplets around...I'll be trying to finish this piece today!

You look so peaceful! Painting always makes me relaxing too. That's why I love painting. Thanks for lovely posting!

Thank you @ramengirl, more like exhausted. I disliked the background I started out with and painted over with white paint. With the new idea for my background I got very excited too. I love it!

Exchellent post!!
Hard work dear @reddust _)

Thank you dear friend @djsonic, I had a blast, but my cheeks hurt....I'm still giggling from almost passing out using the straw and paint method.

This work dear friend @reddust is amazing and beautiful, congratulations, many gracais for sharing your beautiful art

Thank you dear friend @jlufer🦋

That is wonderful!

Thank you @uchemore, @jlufer is one of my favorite steemians, you should check out his posts! He sets an excellent example as a curator.

That's amazing! i remember him, even though i'm more of a football man, he is a legend. I also love the Pollock style splashes in the background. :)

@jonjon1, this style of throwing paint Pollock style is really popular for sports painting. The painting will be going into an office setting in a financial institution. So I'm trying to be classy 😏

I'm starting to understand the rules now and enjoying the game. My husband prefers football too. But he wants football rules to change to speed up the game, he likes the no whine rule in Rugby.

This will definitely liven up an office for sure ;) yeah i want to try the pollock style one day, I have always loved his art. The Pollock movie is a really good portrayal of him as a man and artist too. Football has become somewhat silly, what with all the money flying around, the mollycoddling of the players. But i still love the game, I never enjoyed playing rugby, in fact i used to run towards the corner flag while all the big lads went in for the crunch.. I was the smallest lad in school though haha. Great work my friend! :)

Your very talented, well done your work is fab :)
