ART EXPLOSION WEEK 38: I am free

in #art7 years ago

"Art is a window to freedom."
In the following drawing I wanted to express the freedoms that art offers us. It gives us the freedom to express what we feel in a universal language, it gives us the freedom to create worlds, to materialize ideas, thoughts, feelings and emotions. Art can give us wings to fly.
Here I show you the result, followed by a detailed step by step.
With this drawing, I enter ART EXPLOSION WEEK 38, impsulsed by @juliakponsford.

Step by step drawing

Sketch

In the sketch I traced the silhouette of the back of a man. I added on his back the tattoo of an angel, and a pair of wings that would represent the freedom that art offers us through imagination and creativity.

Shading

With a graphite pencil number 2 (HB), I started by shading the upper part of both the man and the angel. Then, with patience, I shadowed each feather on the angel's wings. It was the slowest part of the process, because it was the part that needed more attention to get a good result.

I added the shadows in the body of the man and the angel, taking into account the position of the light. Shading skin is difficult, you must use very delicate strokes to achieve a good effect, such as the channel detail of the column area.

Colored wings

I started using purple tones on the top of the wings.

Afterwards, I added red, orange and yellow tones.

I kept adding red tones, and I went back to using violet colors to take advantage of their beauty.

To finish, I used green and blue tones, to give a greater range of colors to the drawing.

excelente trabajo amigo, te luciste

Gracias amigo. Siempre aprecio tu opinión.

Pretty impressive drawing.
How long have you draw on this picture?
And how do you came up with the idea to draw something like this?

Thanks for comment. I have lasted 2 days doing the drawing (About 21 hours of work). I just wanted to express how free I feel when I make art. That's where the idea came from, the wings that art gives me.

I really can imagine how much effort you put into this drawing.
But the result really does worth it.

If it has been worth the effort friend. Thank you very much for commenting

I am absolutely impressed!
