Anne Frank - pointillism in graphite - ARTEEXPLOSION WEEK 44

in #art6 years ago

Anne Frank is an iconic character of the Second World War, because in her famous diariy, she recorded her experiences of the holocaust from the point of view of the most affected part, providing a unique perspective of the war. Therefore, I believe that Anne Frank committed one of the most important acts of rebellion in history, revealing to the world, the darkest side of Nazism.
This is my entry to ART EXPLOSION WEEK 44 from @juliakponsford.

5 facts about Anne Frank

  • The house in which Anne Frank was hidden receives about 1.5 million tourists each year.
  • Anne Frank did not die in the gas chambers, she died of typhus at 16 years old.
  • Anne Frank died 3 weeks before the British liberated the concentration camp where she was.
  • Her dream was always to be a writer or journalist.
  • His father was the only survivor of those who hid in the annex, and this was the one who decided to publish his daughter's diary.

Drawing process

With the graphite, I began to draw the eye adding point by point, and I took advantage of the white of the page to incorporate the reflections of light in the eyes of Anne Frank, and thus give my personal touch to the drawing.

I continued to shade the right part of Anne Frank's face, grouping the dots in the darker areas, such as in the cleft of the cheek, and scattering the dots in the lighter areas.

I applied the same process on the left side of the face, paying special attention to the lips.

The hair was what took me the most work, since I had to add a lot of dark points in an important area. For the finer hair, I decreased the intensity of the points. Those areas of fine hair, was one of the parts that I liked the most.

Finally, I gave shade to Anne Frank's dress and neck area, to get the final result.

Details of the drawing

To show the level of detail of this drawing, I made the following video:

Materials

-Paper.
-Graphite pencil number 02 (HB)
-Draft.

One of the characteristics that I like the most about Anne Frank's story is the smile she shows in all her photographs. And for my tastes, there is no greater rebellion than to smile despite adversity. Did you like the result? You can leave your comment and support me with your vote as you wish.

Thank you

I'm impressed by the level of detail in your drawing. Amazing!

I actually live less than 50km away from Anne Frank's house but so far I never visit it. I should really do. Summertime can be a bit crazy though with unbelievably long queues.

Thanks for your comment. You definitely have to go, take pictures, and share them, so that people like me, who will never have the opportunity to go to the house of Anne Frank, we can meet her. Greetings, a hug.

When it comes to art work, i heard man once say that the simple is great, and the great is simple! This is true for this artwork. I like the subtlety . Also thanks for the 'story', the process description, and the video.

I am going feature it in the next Xposed Curator's Rebound #41. You may find details about it Xposed Curator's Rebound

My hope is to bring your quality work here the exposure it deserves, and with it, hopefully some additional rewards.

Best wishes, @mirrors

Very grateful for your comment and your support. Excellent comment Thank you

You are welcome. I love your art work, the subtlety is amazing.

Only points! Wow, that is a technique that creates a unique image, and I am doubly impressed because I believe it would take a very long time to do.

Thank you for sharing this us with us here on the steem blockchain!

Thanks for comment. Yes it took me time and work. I'm glad you liked it. Thank you.

Do you do mostly pointillism? What do you find are the benefits or positive aspects of using points instead of lines?

I like how it looks almost like a photograph!

It's the first time I do a job just the technique of pointillism. The advantage of using points, in my opinion, is that it allows a more complete level of detail, the points work like pixels on a screen. That's why it looks like a photograph. Thanks for asking.

Of course! On any screen the pixels are just little dots! I had not thought about it that way, thank you for your great explanation.

thanks for the great storysunshine_80_anim_gif[1].gif
