While poisonous in nature, the Poison Dart Frog is not poisonous in captivity.                                 

The Sketch

I lined my sketch with a warm gray multiliner, on Arches Hot Press Watercolor Paper.

The coloring process

I used Copic Markers and white gel pen.

Galaxy background

Galaxy backgrounds are easy to make, and I just love the way they look. One doesn't have to worry about blends, since it's not supposed to be perfectly blended anyway. I used blue violets that ranged from light to almost black.

This is what it looks like before the stars were added.

The stars really makes these kinds of backgrounds. I used white gel pen to make them. When adding  stars one should keep in mind that the human mind spots patterns immediately, so be sure not to have equal size and distance between the stars - they should look random.

 

Moon

I started with marking where the dark parts should be.  I used Earth's Moon as a very loose reference.

Then, I shaded and blended the moon until it looked like I wanted.

Lastly, I added highlights using a white gel pen.

Poison dart frog

I used dark blues to color the frog. I initially wanted the frog a lighter blue color, but somehow it just turned out dark. 

The black spots made a huge difference, it instantly turned the frog from boring to interesting.

Finally, I added white highlights using a white gel pen, to illustrate the frogs moist skin. 

Feathers

I decided on a light brown, yellowish color, that went well with the blue and violet. (It also kinda turned the frog into saiyan frog, which was not my intention :P )
