As weird as it can sound, I think they're already on the paper, just wating to be drawn... Most of the time at these stages of the work I don't even try to know what I'm doing... I just let randomness and chaos do their job, then I come to clean the mess... I might try to draw with a broom instead. :D
This is, what makes you an artist: mastering chaos :) Michelangelo said the same about his sculpures... they´re already in the stone, he only has to set them free.
