[Inktober] A Trail of Stones and Bread
Day 22 and I recover a bit-- for the prompt Trail, I return to good old fairy tales.
This work features Hansel and Gretel, the titular characters from their own fairy tale. I do hope by now the story is has reached you-- but as a quick recap, the siblings are led to be lost in a forest and they made a trail of stones, then a trail of bread crumbs so they can go back home. The first succeeds, the second doesn't. They eventually meet a house made up of food ad a witch- and teh rest is history (lol, go read it :3~ i grew up with this childhood story and other local themes)
Anyways~ they do seem older and... well, a bit off in this sketch-- I knew their parents' worked as lumberjacks (i think? or something forest related) hence they lived close to the woods-- but that really scares me in a way- I've lived in the province and had stayed in a place full of trees and all the related themes of enchants, spirits and fae folks.
So~ Hansel is oddly smiling and Gretel is a bit more sinister-- also went against the grain of usual fair-looking characters for the mood. I passed on drawing the trails because-- I got lazy admittedly. I don't know-- somehow this isn't like other fairy tales, the original and the final both had a death to occur and, well~ are we still in a children's story in that line of thought?
Albeit, the world isn't that black and white against a witch and a child at the end of the day~

STOPThat seems an interesting childhood story. Though I haven't read this one and don't know if that was available in my childhood or not, but it seems that it was adventurous.
The concept of two sibling (usually two brothers) are taken part in various movie or television series.
I think I read a manga before that's based on older Hansel and Gretel. :)

If I could draw I would be happy @p3paula that is why I enjoy seeing others who can wield a pen or pencil with success. They may be older in your sketch to what is normally seen, then it is a fairy story, who said they were young?
