Wax lyrical
I have created these beautiful translucent pictures from waxed tea bags. I have filled them with bits of old books, sheet music, maps, stamps, buttons, threads, dried flower petals and tags. A continuation from my previous post Fancy a cuppa? on how to make mini tea bag pictures using collage and wax.
They have a lovely vintage feel to them, a combination of the wax, colours and media used. Hold them up to the light and they are bestowed with enchanting qualities.
You could make and view them as a sheet or as individual pieces. I think they are wonderful viewed by a window (but not in direct sun), the light brings them to life. You can get double sided glass frames that are perfect for trapping them between.

And from my previous post Fancy a cuppa?...
I hope you enjoyed my art as much as I enjoyed making it!

SUCH an original idea! I love this so much!
I think the idea has been kicking about for a while, I just wanted to give it a try with some of the things I had been collecting.
I've never come across it, so in my mind you are original. Hahaha
Nonetheless, I love it!
This is creative thinking ! I have never heard of this! They look great!
I've seen quite a few artists use tea bags, some nice examples of stitching into them.
I like the antique feel they give.
these are beautiful, and quite inspiring, I sense an upcycling day in the not to distant future.
I love a bit of up-cycling, don't you?
love this idea and the translucency of the waxed tea bags, like little pockets of memories and magic :)
What a lovely description!
Love it!
:D Yay!
These are so amazing! Great job :) I want to make stuff like this! I'm a fellow artist, But I"m best with drawing :)
Put your drawings in tea bags? Sounds odd but see my previous post :D
Nice one art.
Sorry, but If use some epoxy resin for doing the same instead wax. Than this translucent pictures from tea bags in solid state simple replace casual window glass in place of inserting between glass. epoxy don't melt if be heated by sun in summer.
It's just idea and maybe suggestion :) Because you is artist. I'm is technican
Yes you could do that, it would work great. Good suggestion.
I just find it's really stinky when it dries. I've used it over dried flowers and collage before, and to harden watercolor paper for jewellery making. But, I wouldn't use it indoors on a wet day like today (UK), stink the place out :D
Actually need to find polyester resin not epoxy. But lot of types and like for me better use with one, what contain paraffins. this type of resin is more shiny and totally water resistant (if you have a plan using like window glass)
I've been using crystal resin.
Nice; reminds me of a friend of mine who encases stuff he finds in plastic sheets.
Cg
I've already started on the melting plastics, lol. Did a bit today, may continue tomorrow. I just puts bits of jigsaw and stamps in plastic. How big is the stuff he encases? Are we talking Damien Hirst's Shark scale here?
The creator in me simply loves this idea and wants to give this art form a shot. The musician in me says she did WHAT to sheet music?! LOL
It was old sheet music from a church, it was going in the bin- very fusty. I like to scavenge!
Love these! Nice job.
Cool, thanks.
