Angels: experimenting with materials.

Today I've been experimenting with materials and drawing angels, see my post Drawing angels for material experiments 1 and 2.
Experiment 3
I started by drawing with wax and oil pastel on to a white background. I coated the paper with watercolour for a wax resist effect.

Once the first layer was dry I applied a second layer of wax and oil pastel and a darker shade of watercolour. The paper was absorbent so the colours dried lighter.

Experiment 4
The paper was coated with light blue ready mix paint and glitter paint and left to dry.

I masked off a triangle with masking tape and placed a doily over the top. I applied oil pastel, watercolours and white acrylic paint over the doily, leaving a pattern beneath.

Once dry, I added an oil pastel outline to my angel design and applied the first layer of watercolour.

When the first layer of watercolour had dried I applied wax, gold paint and a second coat of watercolour.
I think experiment 4 is definitely my favourite! Which is your favourite? Experiment 1, 2, 3, or 4?
