How to develope a cardigan: Crochet is art!
In the last months I developed the pattern, figured out the math for the different sizes, wrote the instruction and made the photos and I thought, maybe it is nice for you to get a little insight in the designing process.
Like creating a painting, it all starts with an idea, with an image in my head. I the start to test swatch, means I make little squares of crochet to find the best yarn, a suitable stitch pattern and especially the right colour palette. After this I make sketches how the cardigan should look, how much ease it should have, which associations it should create inside the wearer and so on.
The next step is to start crocheting and simultaneously working on the written instructions. This is the most exciting time, because I love to work with all the colours and to shape something so simple like a ball of yarn into a wearable item.
After finishing the crocheting part, the sewing starts – and how I hate this, really, I do not like to sew!
This is the reason I normally draft clothes which only need a minimal of sewing.
When all is done – everything starts again. I now make the cardigan a second time based on the instruction I have written down to confusion proof my pattern. If all went well I calculate the different sizes and give the pattern to different friends who are experienced in crocheting, so they can test the pattern and its sizing.
After all this work, I search for a fitting location and make photos of the finished item. As you can see in an older blog post here on steemit, I really like to make the shooting at abandoned and decayed places.
If you like the cardigan you can follow me because I will publish the pattern on steemit (please everybody… like the cardi!!!! 😊 )
Schöne Wolle, schönes Teil!
Danke schön.... prüfe gerade die Anleitung und hoffe in ein paar Wochen kann ich sie veröffentlichen.
Great post! Loved how you went in to the thought process behind the creation. I feel ya! 👊🏼
Followed!
Thank you very much... but I hope you do not feel my have-to-sew-hurt :-D
Awesome! Love that you're sharing your journey of creation. :)
Thank you!! This was a short summary, because the pattern is not completely ready to be released right now. I hope the rest will go smoothly :-D
Right on. I'm sure folks will be excited to learn more about your journey on here. :)
Thank you and I also hope this ... but sadly I am a little slow in developing such patterns, I have to accelerate 😁
Hello @neumannsalva! I really enjoyed your post! You are a talented crocheter. I too am passionate about crocheting. I am making an initiative to share this art along with other needlework arts here on Steemit. It really helps when people with the same interests work together. Would you take the time to read my post about #NeedleworkMonday? I would love if you joined us in sharing this wonderful art while supporting each other. Thank you for your time~ 😊

Thanks for this invatiation and I will go and spread the idea, because crochet knitting and so on seems not to be very dominant on steemit (but I am new, perhaps I just dont know enough)
Followed you and restseemed your needleworkmonday post... :-)
Why should the tag be the first one? I am not sure I really understand the hierarchy of the tags.
Thank you so much @neumannsalva for checking out my post, for the follow and Resteem! I am following you too. You are absolutely right, needlework is not dominant here and that is why I am out on this mission to change that. The reason #needleworkmonday should be the first tag is because the first tag you use is the main category that people will find your post in. You can consider the first tag your dominant tag or main tag. If you ever use the search engine on here you will notice that some tags are not popular. For instance if you started to type introduceyourself in the search engine it finishes the word for you meaning it is a popular tag used here on Steemit. From what I am learning the more a tag is used the more precedence it will have. So if all of us crafters use this tag as our first one, it will be easier for more crafters to find and we will be giving it precedence. It will also give us a common tag to use as we showcase our work every Monday. I hope that all made sense. Looking forward to sharing more with you here on Steemit! So glad to meet you :)
Yes, thank you for clarifying :-) I hope I understood it right: the post could be find through all of the 5 used tags, but the first tag has more weigth in order to establish this tag.
I am asking, because I hope people will find my blog, but I think normally they will not search for #needlecraftmonday, but for exmple for #knitting oder #stitching. The needlecraftmonday tag will be only useful for insiders after it is established. So maybe using it as a second tag is more helpful - because the particular post could be found and the tag becomes well known?
No problem at all @neumannsalva ;) Yes that is correct. The first tag does have more weight and it eventually becomes a trending tag. This is one of the reasons I wanted to make this initiative for us to find a common place together, share our work and from there people will find you. If we all are posting our work under a trending tag, they will find you. It's kind of like we are showcasing our work for people looking for crafters and from there you can gain a following. Also other Steemicans that are posting under this tag will want to connect with you as well. It's also amazing that we can all learn from each other. But I encourage you to do what you feel will be best for your brand. I just appreciate you even considering joining us. If you want to use #needleworkMonday as a second, third or even fifth tag go for it ;). As you stated it will still be found whether it's the first tag or not. Thank you so much for conversing with me and asking questions. 😃
