ARLINGTON ROW... (Painting #17 by Neha Bisht )steemCreated with Sketch.

I have grown up reading English classics. Europe has always fascinated me and called me. The English countryside. The romance of the steam engine chugging through the beautiful meadows of England. The tall green and gold birches and beautiful autumn of Eastern Europe. The snow, the crystal clear streams and brooks are like magnets for me.

I have an intense fascination for English & French cottages, mansions, manors and inns. They take me into the romance mysteries of Daphne Du Mauria, Agatha Christie , Georgette Heyer etc etc.

This is a Watercolour Vignette of Arlington Row of Stone cottages of Bibury, Gloucestershire, England.
I referenced it from a photo, of course. Arlington Row is probably one of the most photographed Cotswold scenes.
The place is idyllic. Just out of a story. For me , it carries the essence of English countryside and towns.

Arlington Row of Stone Cotteges is located in Bibury, England.

Bibury is a village and civil parish in Gloucestershire, England. It is on both banks of the River Coln which rises in the same (Cotswold) District and which is a Thames tributary. The village is centred 6 1⁄2 miles (10 km) northeast of Cirencester.

Arlington Row is a nationally notable architectural conservation area depicted on the inside cover of all United Kingdom passports. It is a major destination for tourists visiting the traditional rural villages, tea houses and many historic buildings of the Cotswold District. It is one of six places in the country featured in Mini-Europe, Brussels.

The picturesque Arlington Row cottages were built in 1380 as a monastic wool store. This was converted into a row of cottages for weavers in the seventeenth century. The cloth produced there was sent to Arlington Mill.

Arlington Row was preserved by the Royal College of Arts. It has been used as a film and television location, most notably for the films "Stardust" and "Bridget Jones’s Diary".

I used this photograph for reference.

Arlington Row even made the national news at the end of January 2015, when a bright yellow Vauxhall Corsa car parked near the cottages was accused of “photobombing” and spoiling the view so loved by tourists. :)

So Guys , this is the beautiful and Idyllic Arlington Row of Stone Cottages for you. My watercolour painting is a tribute to the beautiful village so fiercely loved :)

Thank you for viewing and reading :)

Wow, it really came to life in your painting!

Thank you... It is one of the best compliments my painting got.
My painting is smiling :) ...

Your post on Spiritual awakening is good. Upvoted it :)

I thought such houses were common in England, but it turns out that they were showing this one row all the time :)

😁😁😁😁 Oh yes. It seems so. The British colonised half the world once upon a time. They sure have tricks up their sleeves 😎😎.
This is one popular row. 😊 But I am sure there must be other beautiful houses too ... :-)

If that people weren`t in that photo you would think that yellow Vauxhall car had travelled back in time. These english places now are getting populated with the rich. From what I have heard through mates is certain rural areas of France are near kind of like what England was like in the 1950s.

Yes it is true. Countryside of Europe is a timeless heritage of art and beauty 😊

When I was a kid growing up in the Scottish Highlands you were surrounded by this beauty a lot of the time. Especially when you went to visit the old houses, standing stones, castles or castles in ruins as a kid you just took all this for granted. It wasn`t until I started living in London and then when I would go home once a year. I truly understood the gift and the beauty of the place that I grew up in. That is when I started to totally wake up from within me too.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder :)

That`s definitely one way of saying it.

I like the strokes here.. especially on the path

Thank you , Prakash :)
