This time, as an art column I would like to write a variety of personal thoughts about the difference between cartoons and illustrations I usually draw.
:Trigger
Well I thought about writing such an article was often triggered by people saying like this to around.
"Because you can draw pictures, are not you going to put cartoons? "
I think that it depends on the type of picture being drawn, but a pretty person with a painting may have said so once.
I thought so before I started painting in earnest.
However, actually I think that I can now draw a picture as it is, but what is called an illustration and a picture of a cartoon are not the same in the first place.
So, you can draw a picture = you can not draw a manga.
Of course there are people who can draw, but at least I can not do it for now.
#: Illustration picture
The type of picture I usually draw is a piece of painting, which is completed as a piece with one piece.
So I will express various information such as character and background in one campus.
In many cases evaluation of works etc are often influenced by the amount of information volume and skill and so on.
Basically there is a tendency that it is said that it is better to have more drawing.
Of course it is not limited by the picture and style, but many illustrations work takes considerable time and effort to complete and incorporates various information.
; Cartoons picture
On the other hand, it is the purpose of how to omit the picture of cartoons fundamentally and express the story without waste.
Manga has a lot of pictures that I have to draw until I complete one work.
Depending on the work, considering about 20 pages per episode, around 3 to 6 pictures per page draws pictures such as people or background, so simply think about 70 pictures to draw Hmm.
When drawing to draw a picture in an illustration, it takes a huge amount of time to draw one story of a cartoon.
Besides, in cartoons characters are obvious, but since it is necessary to draw from various compositions and angles, it is necessary to have regularity to some extent so that the author himself can reproduce the design so that it can be drawn many times, lean I must design it.
Let's compare illustration and cartoonist picture here for a moment.
The illustration on the left is the illustration I use for my profile.
The right is what I drew up with the assumption that if I draw the picture in cartoons.
I am sorry that I'm not very good ...
Compared to the picture on the left, the number of lines on the right is overwhelmingly small, and the shape of the shadow is also patterned.
The tendency is particularly noticeable especially for hair.
In this way cartoons and illustrations differ greatly in their purpose, so their way of developing is different.
The picture of a cartoon is subtraction, the illustration picture can be said addition.

今回はアートコラムとして漫画と僕が普段描いているようなイラストの違いについて個人的な考えですがいろいろ書いてみたいと思います。
：きっかけ
そもともこんな記事を書こうと思ったのはよく周りに人にこう言われたことがきっかけでした。
『絵が描けるんだから、漫画もかけるんじゃないの？』
描いている絵の種類にもよるとは思いますが絵描きの結構な人が一度はそう言われたことがあるのではないでしょうか？
僕自身絵を本格的に描き始める以前はそう思っていました。
ですが実際に今それなりに絵を描けるようになってみて思うのですが、いわゆるイラストというものと漫画の絵はそもそも同じではないということです。
なので、絵が描ける＝漫画が描けるではないのです。
もちろん描ける人もいますが・・・・少なくとも僕は今のところできません。
：イラストの絵
僕が普段描いているタイプの絵は一枚絵というもので、一枚で作品として完成するものです。
なので１つのキャンパスの中にキャラクターや背景といったさまざまな情報を盛り込んで表現していきます。
作品の評価などは多くの場合情報量の多さや技巧などに左右されることが多いですね。
基本的に描き込みが多い方がいいとされる傾向があります。
もちろん絵柄や作風などによってその限りではありませんが、多くのイラスト作品は完成までにかなりの手間と時間をかけてさまざまな情報を盛り込んでいます。
；漫画の絵
対して漫画の絵は基本的にいかに省略をして無駄なくストーリーを表現していくかが目的になっています。
漫画は１つの作品を完成させるまでに描かなければならない絵の量が沢山あります。
作品にもよりますが、一話あたり20ページ程度と考えて、一ページあたりに3〜6コマ前後は人物か背景などの絵を描くので、単純に考えて70枚前後は描かなければなりません。
イラストを描くようにしてその絵を描こうとすると、漫画の一話分描くのに膨大な時間がかかってしまいます。
それに漫画では登場人物たちを当然ですが、さまざまな構図や角度から描く必要があるのでデザインなども何度も描けるように作者自身が再現できるようにある程度の規則性を持たせたり、無駄のないデザインにしなければなりません。
ちょっとここでイラストと漫画的な絵を比較してみましょう。
左側の絵は僕がプロフィールに使用しているイラストです。
右はその絵を漫画で描くならばという仮定で描き起こしてみたものです。
あまり上手くないのはご勘弁を・・・
左の絵に比べて右は線の数が圧倒的に少なく、影の形もパターン化されています。
特に髪の毛についてはその傾向が顕著ですね。
このようにして漫画とイラストはそもそも目的が大きく異なるので、その発展の仕方も違っているんです。
漫画の絵は引き算で、イラストの絵は足し算と言えるでしょう。

なるほど、、。それぞれのアーティストさんにはそれぞれのスタイルがあるので、そのような事を言ったことはないですが、そう思う方も多いのでしょうか。クラシックピアノの方にジャズもできるでしょっ！と言っているような、、、感じでしょうか。どちらも出来る方もいますけど。

そうですね。ピアノのジャンルの違いはかなり近いかと思います。
あくまで僕個人の考えなので、両方できる人もいるし、そういう人からしたらあまり違いがないって言われちゃうかもですが。
漫画の場合はストーリーの構成とか設定の作り込みだったり絵を描く以外の作業の比率と評価基準がかなり多いので、結構マルチタスク型の創作活動だと思います。
ちなみに漫画だけじゃなくアニメの作画も省略の美と追及している代表かと(｀・ω・´)
なんとなくわかります。イラストは、ある瞬間を演出するので、写真ぽくて、漫画はいかに線を省略しながらストーリーを盛り上げていくかみたいなところがあるので、動画や映画ぽいですよね。描く時に注意するところも違うし、頭の使うところがちがうんですよね。
わたしも漫画ぜんぜんダメです。イラストもあんまりですが（笑）

そうですね、漫画は映画と同じってことは結構言われますね。
いわゆる総合芸術と表現されるくらい絵以外の要素も重要になってきますから。
イラストの場合もストーリー性を表現したりすることもありますが、それを一枚のキャンパスの中でキャラクターの表情とかポーズとか、一瞬で見えるものに詰め込むので１つのものを緻密に描き込んだりします。
まあ作家さんによりけりでしょうが(｀・ω・´)
ぼくも漫画はからっきしですね未だ_:(´ཀ`」 ∠):
同人誌で漫画書いてましたが（昔むかーし）漫画は動的な表現で、イラストは静止表現だと思って描いてました。
漫画は大変ですよねぇ。ソフトになってだいぶん楽にはなったけども。描くってことには変わりないので。。。1枚画は描きたいだけ描けばいいんで気楽ですｗ
表現法として結構違いがありますよね。
とことん納得できるまで描き込めるのがイラストの個人的に思ういいとこですかね(｀・ω・´)
