Portrait of a Fulani family
This one took over a week guys! Sometimes work comes easily, and sometimes it seems to creep along. Neverthless I persisted and I am glad I did.
The men of the Fulani keep covered and are silver smiths and make beautiful Jewelry for the women to wear.
I love this detail, it looks as though this baby's feet are floating in outer space
Here is the process I took with this piece. I was inspired by this photo.
I used it for a bare outline
and the rest I filled in by hand, smudging and painting each line. I have never worked with oil paint, but from what I gather about the process and being able to "rework" areas I imagine digital painting has in common with the way one produces a desired effect.
This next one is the original finished painting without filters.
and the next few have some beautiful filters over the piece.
This one is somehow a little creepy for some reason, but I love it!
This last one I consider the ultimate finished product. I hand tweaked the levels to get it just so.
Here are two links about the Fulani people if you find yourself interested in learning more.
