Past Away Environment Concept I forgot to post
For anyone that's new here, Past Away is an motion comic that I intended to make a few years back. Things didn't quite come together.
Anyway, this is one of the first environment concepts I made for the project while I was looking for a style. I wanted things to be detailed, but not so detailed it would be too much to do for each background. It's based off of Powell and Market St. in San Francisco. but a future version of it.
In other news, still traveling, I'm still trying to make stuff on the road, but it's a bit hard to explain to family I'm trying to make a post for Steemit. "What's Steemit?" "Well... You got a free 3 hours, I'll explain it to you, please take notes!"
As always, thanks for looking peeps :)
shiney ! neons ! really cool, @midlet !! i likey~
Thanks @veryspider! Yes, so many glows, I had a phase of coming up with cool signage :)
That looks really cool, I am curious about the rest of the concept .. this looks great!
Thanks @anouk.nox! You can see more from the project in the link in the post :)
This post was shared in the Curation Collective Discord community for curators, and upvoted and resteemed by the @c-squared community account after manual review.
Yeh one thing I've noticed since I've been foating around is there is no real elevator pitch for steem XD I can explain the overall thing in one sentence, but if you're not immediately dismissed (magical internet money isn't real and therefore it's useless) then yeh you better have the following few hours free XD
That's a very cute environment. So what happened to it?
Also motion comics, I was kind of thinking of trying to do one of those as a nice little halfway thing between a comic (which I was originally planning to do for my project) and a full blown animation but...I ended up deciding to do the full blown animation like an idiot XD
Thanks @ryivhnn! I eventually made the environments more Blade Runner'esc, So this got dumped. Good luck! Full blown animation is a TON of work :)
Aww, ahh well least you found a direction to go in :)
I remember being back in uni, starting a new course (literally, brand new, it was the first year they were running that course), and the programme chair wasn't familiar with Lightwave (what we had in the studio) so he hired some industry pro who knew Lightwave to teach the 3d part of the course.
The Lightwave guy looked at the two assignments we had to do for the semester (13 weeks). Theoretically ~6.5 weeks was supposed to be spent on an interactive documentary project that we liased with clients for (using Director and Flash) and ~6.5 weeks producing a simple 2min animation with one character in Lightwave.
For the latter Lightwave guy was all YOU WANT THEM TO DO WHAT IN HOW LONG. As I think we maybe after learning how to animate could have produced a 2min animation in 6.5 weeks if we never slept (which most of us didn't do by the way, one of my group members ended up in hospital overnight coz he collapsed in his sharehouse or something terrifying his housemates), but we had to do everything from concept onwards.
On the bright side, by the time my younger sibling got around to doing the course, it was much better and more useful, as they learned how to do proposal documents and the like properly XD
Thanks for the luck, I'll probably need a fair whack of it, have been working on the same project around many, many things for the better part of forever XD
perfect concept, @midlet, this illustration looks great!
Thanks @feelisgood! :)
This is really cool, I love how it's all so neon-like! And I had to laugh about your comment trying to explain steemit to your family haha I've stood in those shoes before too :)
Thanks @lynncole1! Yea trying to explain Steemit to people is something you have to do over dinner or something when they're trapped >:)
hahaha @midlet, that's about it. I've tried to my sister-in-law who is always on facebook, but she, along with a lot of others I talk to, seem to think there's some kind of "catch". Like I'll be asking them for money for something 😅
