New Concept Art Project
I'm starting a new visual development project about a story that's been floating around my head for a while now. The general synopsis of the story is there's a male and female protagonist. They were abducted from Earth when they were infants and raised on an alien world as part of an alien races' scientific study.
The aliens genetically modified them to have more advanced brains and accelerate the development of psychic powers. This alien race has abducted aliens from many planets to do these experiments so our hero's grew up with other alien races as their friends. The training is brutal but not cruel, and since they were all abducted as infants they don't know any other life.
Our hero's eventually learn of their home planet and why the aliens abducted them and why they've been running experiments on them.(I'll reveal that later ;) They then plot an escape to make it back to their home world of Earth. That's all I'll tell about the story for now.
My first design is going to be the environment of the alien world. Starting with a main building.
I've started with some quick thumbnail sketches to try to find a visual language for the aliens. They are humanoid so the design can look similar to humans, but more advanced, but I did want it to feel a bit alien, so this is some exploration.
Also started to do some exploration in 3D with the images above.
I'm leaning more towards the design above. Some of my inspiration came from Soviet Brutalism, but I wanted to also include a bit of an alien and sci-fi twist as well.
That's all I've got for now, but I'll also get into the character designs, alien designs, everything. Hope you guys will join me on this journey and let me know what you think as I go. As always, thanks for looking peeps.

i grew up in a Soviet "brutalist" building. I wonder how my psychic powers were shaped by that. THe one with the landscape looks awesome.

Thanks @donnadavisart! Yea, the 3D tools are so powerful these days, it's pretty crazy what can be whipped out pretty quickly.
Love the second render. I like the last one, too, maybe it could be proportioned to be a bit heavier? Just some words for ya.
Thanks @solar, and thanks for the feedback. Yea, I want to do some quick mockups testing a few looks out. I think I liked the detail in the first one, but it still felt a bit like a refinery to me. Like if we went inside we'd see exposed pipes and sparks flying around, but it's supposed to be a research facility, with futuristic labs and scientists on the inside, so I wanted to have it be a little more...elegant? But yea these are my first explorations, so far most people like that design the most haha.
