''Wind of change'' - original artwork by @mayasky
'' If you surrender to the wind, you can ride it''.
Toni Morrison
This is a painting that I chose to call ''Wind of Change''. It was painted on canvas with oilpaint. I struggled for months with this painting, I never got it just right. Initially I wanted to paint it a large size something like 1,5 m x 1 m. I even got the canvas for it and started painting it before making any studies or sketches. I had the idea in my head and was impatient to get on with it..
Well, that didn't pan out that well and I ended up leaving it after a couple of weeks. As I was watching it glearing at me from the corner of my studio for a month or so I decided I would make a small study to figure out exactly how I wanted it to be.
I Worked on the study for about a week and somewhere in the process it stopped being a study and became the painting that I was supposed to paint the whole time. The painting was only meant to be 50 cm x 30 cm and after I was done painting it, it was if the urge to paint it again, or bigger had left my body.
Paintings do really have a life of their own. It always fascinates me how you can have an idea or a vision and still you can end up producing something completely different than you thought possible at the end of the road. I guess trust in the process, right? :) Like most things, they will work themselves out, if not always in the way you thought :)

That's the exact face I pull when I bite into a kitkat.
Hahaha.. That's great...
I'm not sure if this painting is beautiful because you'r the model for it or because of your skills :d
Something in between?
I wonder in what genres do you often draw?? Oh damn i can just check it out in your portfolio nvm :d
Hehehe.. Thank you for your compliment and comment @yaan ;) I don't think I have a set genre, I enjoy them all.. But I am especially fond of depicting ''introvert contemplation'' lets call it :) hehe..
"introvert contemplation" - that's quite interesting heh.
Well anyway keep up good work and etc. and etc.)
Wow really good painting. Her face and skin tone looks so vibrant against the dark background.

Me too. And thanks to you;-)
Again a beautiful expressive portrait.
What I can't really see properly is the thing what is attached to the string. Is it a little box or a part of the chair?
Thank you so much dear @johano! :) It is a guitar ^^
I didn't see it. But music involved explains the whole internalized expression even more.
Did you ever apply to the London Portrait Gallery competition?
