The Vagabonds - interactive Paintings, season 2: the Final!

in #art7 years ago (edited)

The Vagabonds is an interactive game here on steemit, based on my original paintings.

Welcome to the final, we made it all the way through!

The first phase consisted of 8 unique characters being presented, and in it, you determined each character's unique Name, their very randomized positive as well as negative trait and their unique weapon/artifact/superpower.

In the second phase, the eight fictional Vagabonds were set up against eachother in fictional one-on-one contests/games/battles, ... also chosen by you! The dices randomly chose a new game for every match - the suggestions that were made were great, so thanks for that! The outcome of every fictional contest is also interactive: I present the characters and the contest, and you can comment on how you see this particular contest turn out, and who wins in your scenario.

So, after four Quarter-Finals, and Two Semi-Finals, we have reached the Final contest of the Vagabonds! This is it, read on to see who's in the final, what game will be played and make a comment, writing a scenario on who you think becomes the The Grand Vagabond Winner!

But first, how did the second Semi-Final turn out?

It was Mutia, the Allmighty but Tiresome Heretic with her Sword of Death:

versus Droopy, the Unstoppable but Apologetic Vampire with his Gauntlets of Fractured Eons:

In a Match to see who can Stand the Longest on a Narrow Post!

  • Once again, three great writers sharpened their pencils/keyboards, constructed clever and witty plots and scenario's and gave each in their own way a unique literary account of the last Semi-Final: thank you very much, @fraenk, @edward.maesen and @junsusukhairi for being so committed! Once again, 0.4 sbd (1.2 sbd total prize-money divided by three) is coming your way, thank you!

  • @fraenk's approach -to me at least- seems to be the more character-driven one: building believable characters from the personalities and positive and negative traits provided in phase 1. And then letting them loose in a strange, misty Niflheim-world. It works, it's awesome!

  • I feel (once again - my opinion) @edward.maesen uses a different approach, one where he conjures up a world, constructed from input he receives, and then inserts the characters in a more plot-driven story. That's how it feels to me, I may be completely wrong. And that would even be okay!

  • @junsusukhairi has really grown in this contest - from the proverbial paragraph in the Quarter-Finals, he now writes short novels here on steemit, and they're becoming better and better. Sure, the google®™©-translator has difficulties translating his Indonesian poetry to English, but I'm getting the feeling he's quite enjoying the writing.

  • So we have three strong entries. Two have Mutia as the winner, one has Droopy as the winner. You know what's coming. The dice.

  • Winner of the bragging rights (T B R?) for this episode is...
Droopy breaks down unstoppably and succombs to his own apologetic behaviour. Mutia stands stronger than ever after an experience beyond known realities: @fraenk wins, congrats! Mutia is our second Finalist!

Now then.

Then Now!, the final!

It's Monica, the Neighbourly but Predictive Duchess with her Magical Sceptre of the Dunes who also still is Blinded by Poisonous Spit Spray to her Eyes:

versus Mutia, the Allmighty but Tiresome Heretic with her Sword of Death who has become Non-Violent:

The two protagonists found themselves standing in front of eachother.

A thick mist appeared, drowning the world in a hazy fog. All became dark.

The chanting of the crowd faded away and everything went completely silent.

Time slowed down. Except in the consciousness of these two Vagabonds. They were more focused than ever. Alert. Facing the unknown. Alone.

Monica could hardly see a thing, Mutia couldn't contain a non-violent cough.

In her hands, Monica held a Sceptre and a Torch. Her fingertips had become her eyes and painted the picture of her surroundings directly to her mind.

Mutia may or may not have had her Sword of Death hidden in her fluffy, googlyeyed, interdimensional backsack. She couldn't remember if she had taken it with her this time.

You could hear a pin drop.

Yeah, who dropped that pin?

Out of the mist, slowly, six figures appeared. So it was probably Shelly dropping her poisonous hairpin.

And so it was. Shelly, Eloise and Zilong appeared from out from the mist and slowly went and stood behind Monica. They were beaten by her, so they would now have to support her.

From the other side, Caern, Pattimura and Droopy appeared - they were on Mutia's team now.

It was time for the Meta-Vagabond-match. (Suggestion by @fraenk, thanks - I reserved this for the final!)

Which means: anything goes, all is possible! Make a comment describing how this match turns out. Go wild, go nuts, most of all: go original!

Just remember: There can be only one Grand Vagabond!
Well, of course there can be two -or even more- it wouldn't be very Vagabondish if I weren't to allow that happening!

How will this end? I have no idea... It's in your hands now! Make it a Grand Final, make it a Grand Vagabond, and have fun!

Yay... I was chosen... but that means I need to do some serious research to find out with whom that torch ended up now... such a bloody mess, the canon has become quite hard to read :P

Love the starting point you've concocted for this last of battles (in Season 2 at least, and who knows... but you get the drift) the finally then now, now finally then grand finale.

Well... it needs some even more serious research to bring this to a worthy end anyways. Do we have a 48hr deadline on this one again?

If you can work with it: the torch is in Monica's hands, per @edward.maesens mysterious T B R-comment, is that ok with you?

In her hands, Monica held a Sceptre and a Torch

I didn't mention a deadline, I figured 48 hours was the norm by now :-/ But tell you what, I'll make the conclusion when you, @edward.maesen and @junsusukhairi have made a comment. You're the top, making this worthwhile, so I respect that :)

Don't know about a season 3 yet - I would love that, but it'd have to be a bit different again. I think I'll expand on that in a review post after the finale. And I've got some new ideas brewing...

Wishing you much inspiration! And don't rush it - take your time, it's already been a splendid, epic Vagabonds-Canon so far, thanks! :D

Edited the post: I forgot to mention you made the suggstion for the Meta-Vagabonds-match! From the moment I read your suggestion, I knew that was going to be the final, and I wouldn't let the dices decide! :P

It was time for the Meta-Vagabond-match. (Suggestion by @fraenk, thanks - I reserved this for the final!)

Hehe... I didn't even remember :D

Well... rolling dice to determine dice-rolls is still an option. This time I am letting you pick some numbers for once... oh... just numbers is boring... you'll have to think of some things also.

Got that, items provided! I had some doubts about the third item, but I'll keep my other choices in mind - to see what that would have resulted in :)
