I really wanted to do something different today.

The thing with Mandalas is, after a while, they all start looking the same. So today I wanted to change the style considerably...

I went with a space theme which, for me, can never go wrong =) ... And I went with irregular, instead of concentric colouring.

The Creation Process:

This week, things were pretty straightforward. I swapped out one of the formulae I usually use for mandalas, which gave me a different sort of texture in the shapes... After a lot of tweaking, I found the look I was looking for, especially after increasing the number of "spokes" to 26:

I then applied this beautiful NASA image as a diffuse colour map:

Lastly, I added some white fog to get a nice misty affect:

And then in photoshop, I cut out the black background, leaving some border around it =)
