GENIE

I did this piece back in 1987. It was inspired by my neighbor Prince who grow up on Russel Avenue North in Mpls back in day.l lived on Upton Avenue North about eight blocks away from him. It's a small world sometimes.
His sister Tyka Nelson went to North High school with me. So did Jimmy Jam and Terry Louis the part of the Mpls sound. Some would be shocked if they knew that Prince at one time was the drummer for a local group called the Standells that one of my older brothers sang in. I even had a chance to ask prince if l could join his band before anyone was interested in his music when he decided to no longer play drums for my brothers group. But l didn't, the door of opportunity doesn't stay open very long.

He will always be remembered for his creativity talent and strong work ethic. May you make wonderful music in heaven.
