“ Samsara”
Samsara is the cycle of death and rebirth to which life in the material world is bound.
This is my new style of paper cutting art. I wanted to try paper cutting art using letters because language also has power in art. I love language. Even if I can’t read, I feel the energy through language. I am interested in many types of languages. For this art, it was the first time to write in Sanskrit. It was very fun to write! The film“ SAMSARA” directed by Ron Fricke in 2011 is a very beautiful movie. He is famous for directing the film called “BARAKA”. If you never watched it, I really recommend it to you! If you watched it before, please watch it again!!

『サムサラ・輪廻』

これは私の切り絵アートの新しいスタイルです。アートに力をもたらす言語の切り絵に挑戦してみたかったのです。私は言語が好きです。読むことができなくとも、言葉からエネルギーを感じます。様々な言語に興味があります。今回の作品のために、初めてサンスクリット語を書きました。書くのがとても楽しかったです！２０１１年に公開されたロン・フリック監督の映画『サムサラ』を観たことがありますか？この監督の『バラカ』という映画が有名です。もし、まだご覧になったことがなければぜひ観てください！観たことがある方は、もう一度観てください！！

“Japanese”

There are three kinds of writing in Japanese which are “Kanji,” “Hiragana,” and “Katakana.”
“Kanji” are Chinese characters (ideographs) in the Japanese system of writing, which was for mostly men’s culture a long time ago. Each “Kanji” letter has its own meaning. “Hiragana” is the basic Japanese phonetic alphabet. It represents every sound in the Japanese language. We learned that ladies invented “Hiragana.” “Katakana” is a more angular form of “Hiragana,” primarily used for words of foreign origin. Also, we have indigenous languages like Ryukyu or Ainu which are very different from Japanese.

『日本語』

日本語には『漢字』・『平仮名』・『片仮名』の三種類の文字があります。
『漢字』は中国の文字を日本語の表記法に用いたもので、その昔は大体が男性のための文化でした。『漢字』はひと文字ひと文字が意味を持ちます。『平仮名』は日本語の基本音標文字です。『平仮名』はすべての日本語を表します。女性によって発明されたと言います。『片仮名』は『平仮名』より角ばった形をしていて、主に外来語を表記するのに用いられました。また、日本語と大変異なる琉球語、アイヌ語などの先住民の言語もあります。

Now,
I will show you my Free Art "freearttuesday"
I usually get design ideas after going to nature or taking photos, through listening to music or seeing dreams. Then, I draw designs and mostly use black paper for paper cutting art. Why black paper..? I draw or make backgrounds for paper cutting art and I make creatures in black because our life is samsara. I just imagine all beings going to many different dimensions in black. Our existence is not eternal but we all live in the life cycle. I wanted to express that by using black.

さて、
今回はフリーアート『freearttuesday』をお見せします。
私は大抵自然に出向いて写真を撮ったり、音楽を聴いたり、夢を見ることを通じてデザインの構想を得ます。そして、デザインをしてから大抵黒の紙で切り絵をします。なぜ黒い紙なのか？私は切り絵の背景を描くまたは、作成します。そして生き物に黒い紙を使用します。我々の人生は輪廻転生なので、黒で表現したのです。生きとし生けるものが、黒を身にまとってあらゆる次元に行くという想像をしました。私たちの存在は永遠ではないですが、みんな生活環に生きています。そのようなことを、黒で表現したかったのです。

これは白紙上に黒鉛筆でデザインしたものです。

I put my paper cutting art on a table with objects.
オブジェと一緒に切り絵を置いてみました。

I put the light from the opposite side and made a shadow and took a picture. I took two photos from two different angles.
反対側から光を当てて、影絵を作り写真を撮りました。ふた方向から写真を撮ってみました。
