Accepting fantasy/sci-fi character design artwork commissions!

Here’s a little backstory. It was around age 2 or 3 that I started making crude drawings and I haven’t stopped since […they’ve gotten considerably less crude]. I’m now 36 and I’ve been illustrating for most of my life. School was just; forget about it. I mean, I passed all my classes, but my priority was always whatever ridiculous comics I could draw between periods with my weird friend Neal. College was the same, but at least I had art classes. The general studies, though. All D&D monsters and mythical stories about Celtic lore. 

I kind of got a break in the late 90’s. I had a friend in the comic book industry that liked my drawings and passed my name along to a friend that worked in the creative department of Wizards Of The Coast. I sold quite a few pinup drawings to the company. Just pencils. Nothing crazy [except an owl bear that I wish I still had the original of] but for a nerd that spent most of his adolescents years playing Dungeons & Dragons and Magic The Gathering, it was a blissful taste of being paid for drawing dragons, monsters, heroes and wizards. 

Eventually, illustration and comics took a back seat to photography, which consumed much of the next 15 years of my life. Around 2009 I made some big moves designing t-shirts for death match wrestling and MMA companies, which you can read about in my previous blog, Art and violence shaped my future. Lucrative, but still not what I wanted to be doing. The call of the sci-fi/fantasy geek was strong. 

I’m currently transitioning back to full time illustration and comic book design as my son starts kindergarten. Less travel, which is actually a welcomed change. I’ve been working on the iPad Pro for the last six months. I wrote a nice artist-centric review here on Steemit. I draw daily, and always need an interesting warm up sketch, to get things moving before I start work on my comic book, THEIA. 

I had this idea […to bring things full circle]. In the late 90’s, when I was in high school, my friends used to hire me for $20 to draw their D&D characters. They’d give me a character sheet and I’d bring their heroic avatars to life. It was great fun, and it got me thinking, “Why couldn’t I just do that again?”. 

And so, I am currently available to again, bring any kind of character design to life, for a small fee of 25.000 SBD. I can realistically only do one a week. Comment below if you have a need for character sketch artwork, and anyone beyond the first person will be scheduled for the following week, and so on. I’m not looking to make money or get booked out for six months. I love drawing, I love comics and I love fantasy/fiction/sci-fi characters. While I’m part of the community, I want to bring something to the table.
