History in the Making: Blockchain Protected Digital Artwork
Artwork by: Edwin Rosero
I originally created this article/post back in June 2015, but Steemit didn't exist back then. I feel it's worth sharing here so I hope you all enjoy.
The "Cardinal" is the first artwork ever sold through reddit.com after being registered on ascribe.io, which is a service for artists to register, transfer ownership, and archive digital art. This image is associated to a Cryptographic Certificate of Authenticity (CCOA) that contains the artworks provenance history and is used by the owner as the claim to value/ownership. Redditors were confused at first until they realized what this artwork represents, a piece of digital art history. Owning a piece of art history is always a great investment. Mr. Rosero was gracious enough to consign 50 out of 100 editions to ArtCity. These editions will be available on our marketplace once we go live.
Artwork Description: Part of the "Cubist Portraits" series, "Cardinal", is a celebration of Human sexuality and of the romantic feelings we experience as young adults. This Neo-Cubist depiction inspires feelings of seduction, warmth, playfulness, and sincerity, through the use of vibrant colors, loose strokes and digital image processing artifacts.
Please feel free to ask any questions. We are extremely excited about the bright future that lays ahead for digital art.
