Hello Folks!

(Hans Ruedi Giger)
Giger, is a Swiss artist and sculptor, who used elements of his work "Necronom IV" to set the stage and design of the Alien for this film.
Thanks to this, Giger is a great influence in the world of sci-fi. He entered the cinema at the recommendation of Salvador Dalí, and joined the "Alien" project in 1978.
He participated in the graphic design of other films, such as Species, being these works used in the covers of many books and discs.
His last work in the world of cinema was in the film Prometheus, where he designed the murals that appear as one of the first artifacts of the Alien world.
There is a Museum in Switzerland in commemoration of this artist, with many of his works and some of Salvador Dalí.
I will show you the process of creating this illustration:
Tools:
- Mechanical Pencil.
- HB Leads.
- Charcoal Pencil Medium.
- Moldable Eraser.
- Brush.
- A4 Opaline 300G.
I started by illustrating the mouth, making a dark shading on the fangs.
Then i illustrated the tongue and part of the mouth reflecting the light on the right.
Then i illustrated the skull, it has a smoother and brighter texture, so i helped myself with the HB pencil and the charcoal to achieve it.
I began to illustrate the face full of many quite dark biomechanical parts and some reflections of light that i made with the moldable eraser
- I was creating different tones with the charcoal pencil, softening the textures with the brush and making light with the eraser, i required a lot of patience but i like these things a lot!
One of the things that i enjoy doing is playing with the lights. When it comes to a very dark body and the radical change to white, without degrading the tone of black, this gives texture to the body and also that terrifying touch.
The brush aside soften, also clarifies a bit the charcoal, allowing me to make shadows within the same black and looks great!
Finally i illustrated the chest, this part is of another material, something more similar to the human flesh, detailed with many muscles and the light penetrates different to the carapace of its skull.
I illustrated it without blurring or softening anything, so that it would maintain the ideal texture.
Until the next time!
Absolutely great. These details are awesome :-)
It's my favorite SciFy-monster.
Keep up to draw such images :-)
Thank you! I think the drawings that i like to make are those that have many details! Thank you!
